Summary
Data & Communication Structured cabling engineers fulfil an essential role in the Modern World of Technology by designing and installing the complex cable plans for communication & networked systems, including the layout of structured cabling systems for equipment installations as well as expansions for existing networked systems.
In addition, they solve technical engineering problems relating to cable systems. Some data cabling engineers focus on new equipment for telecommunications and structured cabling systems; others work out in the field, installing and working within new and live cabling infrastructures.
- Working within various environments from a range of Education, Health, Financial, Construction, MOD and operational building environments with a varied level of prestige clients.
Role Description
- Engineers are also required to install, terminate and test to a high-quality standard as per manufacturer’s guidelines whilst always maintaining a high-quality performance of workmanship.
- Gain knowledgeable on structured cabling within Copper – Cat 6 / Cat 6A, Voice & Fibre Termination and Testing practices to manufacturers specification.
- Work within various other types of cabling such as Security, Audio Visual, PA, Fibre Optic and Voice backbone, Network & Telephony requirements.
- Problem Solving & Trouble shooting.
- A NVQ Level 3 Qualification on Installation & Inspection of Structured Cabling Systems may be offered to successful applicant. To which may lead to a Modern Apprentices Completion Certificate.
- In house training on Installation practices and termination methods will also be given within our in-house training centre,

**Position Scope:**
The Senior Project Manager is responsible for the delivery and oversight of Whitespace projects across all Business Units within the UK DCS business.,with particular focus on structured cabling. Additionally, the Senior Project Manager supports and manages all client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor and project leader to grow the business relationship and projects offering within Data Centre Solutions.
Working closely with the in-region Whitespace Director, you will have responsibility for all aspects of project delivery as well as feeding into the business development & marketing strategy associated with the Whitespace Projects Business.
The Senior Project Manager will ensure alignment between the account organisation and other departments within DCS to maximize value creation and ensure excellence in project delivery by providing direction and oversight to enable business unit and account teams to positively contribute and comprehensively manage the fulfilment of our commitment to the client.
**The Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:**
**Business Development & Marketing**
+ Report on all major DC developments in region ensuring the senior management team are fully informed of all potential opportunities in the market
+ Build relationships with key stakeholders in all major DC's in region
+ Build and maintain strong relationships with our existing client base
+ Drive growth in the Projects Business by maintaining a strong pipeline for Whitespace projects
+ Provide leadership in identifying and specifying project opportunities and in delivering contractual commitments on secured projects
+ Delivering effective business communication and direct contribution to management team meetings, briefings, consultation forums, monthly and ad-hoc reporting and other publications, as appropriate.
