Inspire Resourcing are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead our clients efforts in measuring, managing, and reducing carbon emissions across all construction activities.
This role is pivotal in embedding sustainable practices into project delivery, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving innovation in low-carbon solutions. Through data-led strategies, cross-team collaboration, and industry insights, the postholder will help shape our path toward a net-zero future.
Main Duties & Responsibilities (but not limited to):
- Develop and implement methodologies for measuring carbon emissions across construction projects, including embodied carbon in materials and operational emissions
- Conduct life cycle assessments (LCAs) for construction materials and processes
- Identify opportunities for emissions reduction and develop practical implementation strategies
- Ensure compliance with UK carbon reporting requirements including SECR (Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting) and future regulations
- Collaborate with teams to integrate low-carbon solutions into design and construction processes
- Evaluate and recommend sustainable materials and construction techniques
- Prepare carbon reports and disclosures for internal and external stakeholders
- Stay current with evolving carbon reduction technologies, methodologies, and regulations in the construction sector
Requirements:
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in carbon management, preferably within the construction or built environment sector
- Proven experience with carbon accounting methodologies and greenhouse gas (GHG) protocols
- Working knowledge of UK building regulations, specifically Part L and emerging Future Homes/Buildings Standards
- Experience with environmental certification schemes (BREEAM, LEED, etc.)
- Understanding of PAS 2080 (Carbon Management in Infrastructure)
- Experience preparing SECR reports and/or TCFD disclosures
- Knowledge of Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi) methodologies is advantageous
License/Certification:
- Clean Full Driving License
- CSCS Card (desirable)

- Substantial experience (ideally 5 years) in the field of building decarbonisation, particularly domestic property sustainable energy projects; with excellent knowledge of sustainable energy technologies and the role they play in whole house retrofit planning. Able to provide examples of projects worked on.
- Experience of contributing to the development of procedures / service policies / strategies.
- Excellent interpersonal, persuasion and negotiating skills, with experience of resolving escalated / complex customer queries.
- Authority and credibility to build relationships influence and engage successfully with colleagues, partners and customers at all levels in complex or politically sensitive situations.
- Experienced project manager with an excellent understanding of project management methodologies and systems. Able to provide and articulate examples of project management best practice from own work.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills, to manage a range of complex activities and to achieve given targets and objectives.
- Excellent research and analysis skills demonstrating evidence of the ability to identify and diagnose complex problems/issues and develop innovative solutions.
- Good ICT skills including use of standard Microsoft applications and specialist systems.
