We are seeking an experienced and passionate Chef / Cook to join our friendly team at our residential care home. You will play a vital role in preparing nutritious, well-balanced meals for our residents, catering to individual dietary requirements while maintaining high standards of food hygiene and safety.
Duties:
- Prepare and cook a variety of meals to suit residents' needs and preferences
- Plan menus in line with nutritional guidelines and seasonal produce
- Ensure all special dietary requirements are met (e.g. allergies, textures, medical diets)
- Maintain a clean, safe and well-organised kitchen in line with food safety regulations
- Order and manage stock, minimising waste and working within budget
- Work collaboratively with care staff to provide an excellent dining experience
About You::
- Previous experience as a Chef or Cook, ideally in a care or similar setting
- A genuine passion for home-style cooking and providing nourishing meals
- Knowledge of food hygiene and dietary requirements
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexibility to cover shifts, including some weekends and bank holidays

This organisation is experiencing rapid national growth, opening new services in Elderly and Specialist Care, including provisions for Mental Health, Learning Disabilities, and Acquired Brain Injury. Together, we are seeking a Commissioning Home Manager based in South London , or someone willing to commute to the area, to lead the opening and management of a new, large care home . This service will specialise in supporting adults aged 18 and over with Mental Health conditions, Learning Disabilities, Acquired Brain Injury or Spinal Cord Injury, and Dementia .
In this role, you don’t necessarily need to be an experienced Commissioning Manager—though having that background would be advantageous. However, a solid understanding of the commissioning process and prior experience or exposure to how it operates will be essential. However, support will be provided by a regional commissioning manager.
Responsibilities include
- Oversee the entire commissioning journey, from construction handover through to a successful launch.
- Achieve CQC registration and uphold the highest standards of regulatory compliance.
- Recruit, motivate, and develop a talented team united by a commitment to outstanding care.
- Build lasting relationships with commissioners, local authorities, and healthcare partners to drive sustainable occupancy and referral growth.
- Cultivate a supportive, person-centred environment where individuals with nursing, dementia, mental health, and complex care needs can flourish.
Candidate Background
You will need to be an experienced Registered Manager , ideally with an RMN qualification . However, applicants with alternative professional registrations or strong non-clinical backgrounds within similar care settings will also be considered. It is essential that you have previously held CQC registration for a large service of approximately 50 or more beds
- Strong awareness of commissioning processes
- Excellent understanding of CQC standards, with a proven record of achieving at least a “Good” rating
- Extensive management experience within healthcare settings
- Experienced in supporting individuals with complex needs, including Acquired Brain Injury (ABI), Spinal Cord Injury, Mental Health conditions, Challenging Behaviour, Learning Disabilities, and Dementia care
- Demonstrated leadership and operational management expertise across multidisciplinary teams
Location
Ideally located in South London, this service benefits from excellent transport connections across the area, including Clapham, Peckham, and Surrey. Additionally, it is conveniently served by a nearby train station, providing easy access to most of London and the surrounding regions.
Salary and Benefits
Earn up to £5,000 per year, depending on experience, with the opportunity to receive an annual bonus of up to 40% based on performance. Additional company benefits included.

- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of care assistants, nurses, and support staff.
- Develop, implement, and review personalised care plans for all residents, focusing on their individual needs and preferences.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant CQC regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Manage the unit's budget effectively, controlling costs and maximising resource utilisation.
- Foster a positive, supportive, and stimulating environment for residents.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with residents' families, providing regular updates and support.
- Liaise with external healthcare professionals, GPs, and other relevant agencies to ensure coordinated care.
- Implement effective recruitment, induction, and ongoing training programmes for staff.
- Promote best practices in dementia care, including person-centred approaches and meaningful activities.
- Manage safeguarding concerns and ensure all incidents are reported and investigated appropriately.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date resident records and care documentation.
- Registered Nurse (RN) qualification with a valid NMC pin, or an NVQ Level 5 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent).
- Proven experience in a senior care management role, preferably within a dementia care setting.
- Demonstrated leadership and people management skills.
- In-depth knowledge of dementia care principles and best practices.
- Strong understanding of CQC standards and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage budgets and operational finances.
