Responsibilities

**The role:**
In this role you will:

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and results-driven Warehouse Operations Manager to oversee all aspects of their distribution centre operations in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear, UK . This crucial role involves managing a large team, optimizing warehouse efficiency, ensuring safety compliance, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. You will be responsible for inventory management, order fulfillment, receiving and shipping processes, and maintaining the highest levels of operational performance. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of modern warehouse management systems (WMS), lean logistics principles, and a proven ability to lead and motivate a diverse workforce. This position requires a hands-on approach and a commitment to operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Direct and manage all day-to-day warehouse operations, including receiving, put-away, picking, packing, shipping, and inventory control.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance productivity.
  • Ensure the accurate and timely processing of all orders, meeting or exceeding customer expectations.
  • Manage and maintain optimal inventory levels, conducting regular stocktakes and cycle counts.
  • Oversee the effective use of warehouse space, equipment, and resources.
  • Lead, train, and develop a team of warehouse supervisors, leads, and associates, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Implement and enforce strict health and safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Manage relationships with third-party logistics providers and carriers as needed.
  • Utilize the Warehouse Management System (WMS) to track inventory, manage orders, and generate performance reports.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices in warehouse management.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and report on operational performance to senior management.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in warehouse management or logistics operations, with a strong focus on operational leadership.
  • Proven experience managing large teams in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of WMS software and its application in optimizing warehouse functions.
  • Strong understanding of lean logistics principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement operational strategies and KPIs.
  • Proficiency in health and safety regulations within a warehouse setting.
  • Experience with inventory control techniques and best practices.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
