Job Description
This is a challenging role for a professional to take on significant responsibilities in ensuring the environmental sustainability of a large water and wastewater company.
Job DescriptionAs a Senior Environmental Assurance Specialist, you will play a key part in the company's ambitious capital programme across the Thames Valley. Your focus will be on the environmental aspects of this programme, working to ensure that all projects are carried out with minimal impact on the environment.
You will provide technical assurance throughout the project lifecycle, leading the environmental de-risking of Major Projects and Programmes schemes and ensuring appropriate mitigation is followed. This will involve producing, procuring and signing off on required environmental deliverables, including regulatory, sustainability and biodiversity requirements.
You will also be responsible for checking, reviewing and signing off on environmental deliverables produced by consultants and contractors, as well as carrying out site audits and inspections to ensure compliance with applicable environmental legislation.
In addition, you will champion the continuous improvement of the Major Projects and Programmes environmental assurance function, working with the wider environmental functions across the business to ensure a joined-up and consistent approach to protecting and enhancing the environment.
Requirements- You will need to have a degree-level education in an appropriate environmental or sustainability discipline.
- You must have a good understanding of the regulatory environment and be able to work towards achieving compliance with environmental regulatory requirements.
- You will need to hold a full driving licence and have access to a vehicle.
- You should have excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to clearly interact with colleagues and stakeholders.
- You will need to be a great team player, with the ability to lead and work collaboratively with all stakeholders, as well as work independently when necessary.
- You should have IT literacy and awareness of knowledge management.
- You will need to demonstrate behaviours aligned with the company's values and have a passion for continuous professional development.
- A competitive salary of between £53,000 - £63,000 per annum, depending on experience.
