The Role
We are seeking a bold, inspiring, values-led Chief Executive Officer to take the charity into its next chapter, building on our strong foundations to grow the organisation’s impact and influence. - An ability to balance high-quality service delivery with campaigning and policy influence. Credibility, presence and gravitas to represent the organisation externally and enhance its profile and influence.

A leading national charity at the forefront of reproductive healthcare is seeking a compassionate and strategic clinical leader to join its Executive Team as Chief Medical Officer. Each year, this organisation supports over 100,000 women and couples across more than 55 clinics, with the vast majority of services funded by the NHS. In addition to abortion care, the charity also provides contraception, STI screening, counselling, vasectomy, and contact centre support to ensure faster access to care.
More than a service provider, the organisation also plays a vital role in advocating for reproductive rights, influencing evidence-based policy, and removing barriers to care to ensure that every woman can make the decisions that are right for her.

The Role
The Chief Medical Officer will be a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, with responsibility for the clinical strategy and medical workforce. They will act as the organisation’s Responsible Officer, overseeing professional standards and revalidation, while ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and clinical governance are maintained.
Working in close partnership with the Chief Clinical Officer and Deputy Chief of Nursing, Midwifery and Quality, the postholder will co-lead the development and delivery of clinical strategy, ensuring services are ethical, sustainable, and firmly grounded in person-centred care. They will also provide expert clinical advice to the Board and offer visible leadership across the organisation.
Externally, the Chief Medical Officer will act as an ambassador, engaging with regulators, NHS partners, academic institutions and professional bodies to influence change, build collaboration, and advocate for reproductive rights.
The Person
The organisation is looking for a values-driven leader with strong clinical credibility, operational insight, and a deep commitment to this vital area of healthcare. Candidates will bring:

Full registration with the GMC and evidence of revalidation

Completion of Responsible Officer training, or willingness to complete this on appointment

The Role
As CEO, you will provide inspirational leadership, overseeing all aspects of the organisations work in the UK and abroad, ensuring continued impact and growth. As a member of the Executive team, the Chief Governance Officer provides strategic leadership across governance, regulatory compliance, risk management, triangulation of institutional data, safeguarding, health and safety, Prevent duties, and institutional resilience. The postholder also holds executive responsibility for business continuity, the digital transformation of governance and compliance systems, student and programme administration (Registry), and the embedding of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion and sustainability principles across the University.
Working in partnership with the Board of Governors, the Vice-Chancellor, and Executive colleagues, the Chief Governance Officer ensures that decision-making frameworks are robust, transparent, and aligned with statutory obligations and good governance practice. They will work with professional services colleagues, fostering innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement while ensuring the University is well positioned to anticipate and address emerging challenges.
We are seeking an exceptional leader with senior-level experience in governance, compliance and organisational resilience within complex, regulated environments – ideally higher education. You will bring a deep understanding of statutory responsibilities, regulatory frameworks, risk management and digital transformation, with a proven ability to embed EDI and sustainability principles into culture. This is a high‑visibility role at a Royal Chartered professional body serving logistics, transport and supply‑chain professionals across the UK and internationally. About the Role
As CILT (UK)’s most senior executive you will:
- Lead the delivery of a clear business plan and strategic priorities in partnership with the Board.
- Ensure the Institute fulfils its Royal Charter, charitable objects and governance obligations.
- Act as the public face of CILT (UK): develop and maintain a strong network of external relationships and act as a trusted advisor to government, public bodies, industry and academia.

Candidate Profile
You will have a proven record of senior leadership, commercial delivery and transformation in one or more of the following contexts: professional bodies, commercial education/training, mid‑sized charities with commercial arms, or transport/logistics/ infrastructure organisations. Essential attributes include:
- Significant P&L and budgetary experience; demonstrable income diversification success.
- Experience of governance at or close to board level and comfortable working with trustees.
- Strong stakeholder and political acumen, with excellent external representation and media capability.
- Emotional intelligence; visible, present leadership and the ability to rebuild trust and morale.
- Commitment to professional standards, member value and public‑interest purpose.
Sector experience in logistics, transport or supply chain is advantageous but not mandatory: demonstrable leadership, credibility and the ability to deliver the brief are paramount.
