Both are within commuting distance of Dumfries, Lockerbie and surrounding towns and villages.

Role Purpose: Residential Child Care Worker
In this role, you’ll be at the heart of safeguarding and supporting young people within a residential/secure setting. You’ll create a safe, engaging environment that respects individuality, promotes rights, and upholds equality and confidentiality. Your work will follow legislative and organisational standards while contributing to a culture of trust, learning, and opportunity. In addition, you may take on specific responsibilities that help the service run smoothly and effectively.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
- Promote the wellbeing, safety, and protection of young people. li>Contribute to the assessment of needs and risks, developing and implementing care plans.
- Support young people in building life skills, independence, and positive relationships.
- Promote and facilitate educational, recreational, and vocational opportunities.
- Manage and respond to challenging behaviour in a calm and constructive manner.
- Maintain accurate records and provide written reports as required.
- Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Ensure health, safety, and safeguarding standards are met at all times.
Essential Requirements:
- Sound knowledge of the role and responsibilities of a Residential Child Care Worker
- Understanding of Employer and Employee Code of Conduct (SSSC)
- Experience working in social care (preferably in residential childcare or secure care)
- Possess or working towards an HNC in Social Care and/or SVQ Level 3 in Care (Children and Young People)
- Ability to manage time effectively and organise workload
- Mental resilience and patience to handle challenging situations
Desirable:
- Full UK driving licence
- Previous experience in residential or secure childcare
- Proven experience in working with children and young people
Personal Qualities:
- Self-motivated with a positive, “can-do” attitude
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Demonstrates empathy, active listening, and open-mindedness
- Committed to continuous professional development

Care Today (Children's Services) are recruiting Residential Care Workers to join our homes based on our Therapeutic rural farms.
Our welcoming homes provide 24/7 care for young people within the home, the home is for children all facing a variety of their own challenges, and we are looking for enthusiastic and caring people to help make a difference to these children.
During your 6-month probation period, you will be enrolled in a NVQ 3 Diploma in residential care, if you do not already hold one. This will be fully funded and you will be given plenty of time and support to complete However, you must be self-motivated to complete the qualification.
Ideally the person applying will have:-
- Availability and ability to work on a rota that involves 24/7 working
- Good communication and listening skills
- Able and willing to do sleep in shifts/waking nights
- Organisational skills
- Driving licence
