The Role:
This a Contract Role, part of our Saab Seaeye Under Water Robotics Business Unit.
This is a very exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced individual to thrive in a fast-paced and innovative environment. The engineer will be confident in their abilities to research and identify cutting-edge solutions for novel and challenging problems, whilst taking pride in their attention to detail and design integrity.
As part of the Electronics team you will create design solutions for electronic/electrical products in underwater vehicles in line with the company’s business needs through innovation, creativity and professionalism.
Our systems are complex, requiring a wide range of technology developed, from Power conversion to high speed communication.
You may be required to lead projects, this will require you to direct and co-ordinate project activities within the Engineering Department and other areas of the business such as Purchasing, Operations, Sales and Logistics.
Key accountabilities and responsibilities:
- Design and development of new Electronics designs
- Comfortable with novel designs with quantified acceptable risks
- Experience of full-lifecycle design and development with change management applied: from concept to end of life
- Experience in DC to DC converters
- Mixed signal electronic design
- Microprocessor system design
- Board layout principles
- Interface buses and protocols including I2C, SPI, RS485, CAN and Ethernet
- Design for LVD/EMC Compliance
- Development of requirements specifications and test procedures
- System level integration and testing
- To work with minimal supervision either on your own or within project teams
- “Hands on” “can do” approach to the above
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with extensive professional experience.

With a strong background in Electronics, you will take responsibility for and manage NPI, Process and Manufacturing Improvements along with sub-contracting and outsourcing work as required, and supporting staff training/development.
You will also review and manage and develop my client’s calibration function, with the goal of gaining ISO17025 accreditation, whilst improving calibration through put.
