The Role
We're looking for an experienced Civil Engineer with 0-2 years experience. You will be working within the Infrastructure team within Walsh working on a variety of projects.
You will be managing the design input on civil engineering designs on roads, drainage and infrastructure on projects ranging from £1M to £00M.
You will be based in our vibrant and friendly office in London's Butlers Wharf.
Responsibilities
You will be responsible for managing input on a number of projects and ensuring the office and technical standards are followed on your projects.
You will typically be working on projects with an overall value up to 0M and you will be the lead on infrastructure matters. There will also be opportunities to work on larger projects with a value of > 0M on which you will be working alongside the project Associate or Director but playing a significant role.
You will have regular client contact and will be responsible for liaising and coordinating with other members of the Walsh (typically the structures team) and external consultants such as M and E engineers and Architects and be required to attend regular coordination workshops both internally and externally.
The team and company are forward thinking with regards to technology develops and there will be opportunities to uses new technology such as Infraworks and Navisworks.
Required Skills
You will have experience designing development infrastructure, particularly drainage. Experience on residential projects, particularly inner city developments would be preferable.
Some management experience would be useful but not essential as this role would suit someone looking to move into a more management role and further their career.
You will have a good technical background and grounding in the design of drainage, pavement design and roads and experience of the following computer packages would be preferable/essential:

Qualifications

- Conduct site visits for surveys, inspections, and to provide construction support.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and technicians within the team.
- Ensure designs comply with all relevant national and local standards, regulations, and best practices (e.g., Sewers for Adoption, DMRB).
- Undertake flood risk assessments and drainage strategy development.
- Contribute to the preparation of tenders and fee proposals.
- Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies for projects.
- Ensure the quality and accuracy of all engineering deliverables.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Professional qualification such as Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with ICE or IStructE, or working towards it.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience in civil infrastructure design and project management.
- Proficiency in civil engineering design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MXRoads, or similar.
- Strong understanding of hydraulic modelling software (e.g., MicroDrainage, SWMM) is desirable.
- Excellent knowledge of UK civil engineering standards, building regulations, and planning procedures.
- Proven ability to manage projects, including financial and resource management.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative, hybrid team.
- Experience in report writing and technical documentation.
