About the Role:
We are seeking a highly passionate Content and Programme Manager with a minimum of 4 years conference production experience, who is looking for a challenging but rewarding opportunity to play an instrumental role in shaping and building a sponsorship driven portfolio of events, that delivers positive environmental and social impact.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Content Strategy and Agenda Development: Craft and oversee content strategy and event agendas for a portfolio of in-person and online events aligned with the climate agenda.
- Market Research and Programme Curation: Conduct in-depth research on market trends, competitor landscapes, and industry challenges. Translate this research into commercially attractive agendas writing topics and sessions.
- Content Development: Create content for conference sessions, interviews, speaker/host scripts, and production briefs by collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
- Value proposition (Narrative) Creation: Create compelling event value proposition to attract high-level speakers, sponsors, key partners and target audience to be delivered through sponsorship and marketing briefs.
- Production Cycle Management: Create a forward plan for the production of all events ensuring all events are produced with ample lead time and ensuring milestones are met and targets achieved throughout the event lifecycle
- Speaker Management: Identify, invite, and confirm high-level speakers and moderators, managing all their session requirements.
- Speaker Engagement: Secure global climate leaders and influential speakers (star speakers, principles only) through sector knowledge and experience.
- Project Management: Oversee event project management and post-event analysis, ensuring smooth execution from start to finish.
- Research and validation of new topics throughout the year to identify new timely launches.
- Speaker & Panel Briefings: Prepare briefing documents and coordinate all speaker sessions.
- Commercial and stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with the sales team to aid in securing partners and coordinate their participation and sponsorship.
- Team Coordination: Lead the creation and delivery of event briefs for marketing, sales, and operations teams.
- Revenue Targets: Establish content and speaking inventories to meet revenue goals.
- Audience Strategy: Develop and implement strategies for target audience acquisition and engagement.
- Customer Service: Provide exceptional service to partners, speakers, and stakeholders, resolving issues promptly.
- Performance Tracking: Monitor content strategies, milestones, and targets to achieve event KPIs.
- Marketing Copywriting: Create promotional copy for marketing channels and editorial needs.
- Website Management: Keep event websites updated with the latest information, speakers, partners, and sessions.
- Onsite Delivery: Manage onsite event delivery, ensuring objectives and expectations are met.
- Post-Event Analysis: Conduct evaluations and prepare detailed reports highlighting event outcomes.
Requirements
Essential role requirements:
- A minimum of 4 years’ experience in creating, managing and delivering international B2B conferences funded by sponsorship and delegate or membership revenue streams; ideally in sustainability, climate change, energy or agriculture
- Experience in a single market sector including evidence of strong relationships with key players across the industry such as sustainable innovation; energy transition; investment; hydrogen; supply chains and climate policy
- Proven success in launching, producing, and delivering events in both live and online formats
- Alignment with Climate Action’s mission and our business objectives
- Proactive, detail-orientated and organized; able to work independently to deliver tasks and achieve project objectives
Preferred role requirements:
- Extensive knowledge about climate change, policy and sustainability
- Knowledge and experience of climate issues, with reference to sustainability issues, subnational climate commitments and the UNFCCC COP process
- Desirable to have sustainability/climate related qualification/s

The Mineral Products Association (MPA) is a prominent UK Trade Association representing the Mineral Products Sector, including cement, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and more. Our sector employs 80,000 people, generates £22 billion annually, and produces 400 million tonnes of material each year, making it the largest material flow in the UK economy. The member companies we represent range from multinational groups to SMEs.
This is an exciting opportunity to support the UK minerals industry in its decarbonisation journey. The Energy and Climate Change Technical Advisor will provide technical analytical support in all MPA work relating to energy and climate change and the transition to net zero. Examples of the work to be undertaken include modelling that underpins net zero roadmaps, collating evidence of disproportionate energy costs in the UK compared to competitors overseas, impacts of UK Emissions Trading Scheme (UK ETS) changes on the sector, gathering evidence and information on trade to track implementation of key policies like the UK carbon border adjustment mechanism and responding to consultations.
The role is analytical and data driven and will also include the development of tools to enable regular reporting of progress against the roadmaps and help MPA members assess their carbon footprint.
Reporting to the Executive Director for Cement, Lime, Energy and Climate Change the role will be based in the MPA Cement and Lime team, but will provide some support to all MPA product groups on climate change matters.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES

- Analyse policy changes (e.g. UK ETS, Energy Intensive Industries (EII) exemption, mineralogical exemption) and produce models that demonstrate potential impact on MPA members

- Represent MPA as an expert on standardisation committees relating to emissions reporting.
- Develop roadmaps based on data collection, analysis and consultation with members.
- Develop tools to enable progress against the roadmaps to be reported.
- Develop tools to enable MPA members to calculate their carbon footprint and keep these updated with the latest information.
- Present to key government & industry stakeholder groups the roadmap outcomes and the challenges and opportunities for the sector.
- Build network with key organisations like the Climate Change Committee to ensure sector progress is reported and key challenges are known and understood.
- Contribute to the sector’s Net Zero and sustainability strategies as well as provide a focus for information and analysis on the industry’s emission performance.
- Work with colleagues across MPA to produce and update carbon reporting tools including Environmental Product Declarations that help demonstrate product carbon impacts.

The appointed individual is likely to be a science or engineering graduate with around 5 years’ experience in the field of climate change in a similar industry, consultancy or trade body. The candidate should possess:
- Strong administration skills, including experience of managing committees to deliver agreed outcomes;
- Strong IT literacy including a sound knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, Word, MS Teams and SharePoint;
- Knowledge and experience of UK and EU legislation in relevant areas and an understanding of the processes involved in development of standards and regulations is desirable;
- Experience of managing projects with multiple stakeholders using appropriate methodologies;
- Excellent organizational skills, effective time management, the ability to work independently, excellent attention to detail, positive client service attitude, the ability to multitask, and the ability to be flexible with changing priorities;
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written;
- Ability to foster effective working relationships and build consensus;
- Ability to interact and influence a variety of users and senior management;
