About the Company
Little Dippers is Skinnydip’s new juniors brand. We’re looking for a creative, commercial Childrenswear Designer to own design and product development for wholesale across boys, girls and unisex ranges (newborn–teen).
About the Role
You’ll build trend-right, licensed and own-brand collections, translate them into tech-ready packs, and drive product from concept to ex-factory with our supplier base, hitting margin, quality and delivery for multiple retail accounts.
Responsibilities
- Range build: Design seasonal wholesale ranges across categories (jersey, outerwear, sleep, accessories) with clear margin targets.
- Trend & print: Create seasonal trend/colour stories, repeat prints, placements, appliqué/embellishment and all-over graphics that are kid-appropriate and retail-ready.
- Licensing: Upload and manage submissions on licensor portals (e.g., Disney/Universal), track comments, and secure approvals to critical path.
- Product development: Create CADs, BOMs and design/tech packs for suppliers; brief fabrics, trims and washes; manage sampling, comments and reworks.
- Wholesale partnering: Co-create assortments by account; adapt specs/price points to retailer requirements; prepare line sheets and presentation decks.
- Costing & margin: Work with Buying to engineer cost and deliver target IMUs without compromising design intent.
- Fit & quality: Partner with Garment Tech on fits and size sets; attend/in-house fittings; resolve construction issues quickly.
- Critical path: Own your styles in terms of tracking lab dips, strike-offs, PPS/SS, testing and packaging.
- Process: Keep critical path trackers up to date; flag risks early; support ad-hoc projects and new category trials.
Qualifications
- 3+ years childrenswear design & development experience in wholesale/supplier or retail HO (multi-account exposure ideal).
Required Skills
- Strong print/graphic creation skills and understanding of scale/placement for kids.
- Solid grasp of the full concept-to-shipment process: tech packs, fabrics/trims, embellishment, approvals, and critical paths.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator (Photoshop a plus), confident with Excel/PLM and presentation tools.
- Commercial eye with trend awareness; able to balance creativity with cost and margin.
- Highly organised, calm under time pressure, strong communicator with suppliers and buyers.
- Collaborative team player with a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with licensed childrenswear approvals and retailer portals.
- Knowledge of testing requirements, packaging, and AQL for kids.
- TikTok/social awareness for what resonates in kids/parents’ feeds.
