Job Description

Who We Are

Cint is a pioneer in research technology (ResTech). Our customers use the Cint platform to post questions and get answers from real people to build business strategies, confidently publish research, accurately measure the impact of digital advertising, and more. The Cint platform is built on a programmatic marketplace, which is the world’s largest, with nearly 300 million respondents in over 150 countries who consent to sharing their opinions, motivations, and behaviours.

We are feeding the world’s curiosity!

Job Description

The Opportunity

Cint seeks a Cloud Infrastructure (DevOps) Engineer to join our Infrastructure team, reporting to the Infrastructure Engineering Manager.

As a Cloud Infrastructure (DevOps) Engineer at Cint, you will be an efficient problem solver, learn on the fly and make decisions quickly. You will have the opportunity to work with the latest technologies, we always strive to be at the forefront of the latest tech stacks and tools used within our domain.

Your focus in the role would be:

  • Work as part of the Infrastructure team on sprints that evolve our core platform and systems
  • Provide point of expertise on infrastructure and CI/CD to our wider engineering teams - often working as part of their scrum on larger projects
  • Automate the build and deployment of software to our cloud platform and help the organisation do it more efficiently and effectively. Eliminate all repetitive manual operations from our daily lives
  • Improve our monitoring and alerting systems to enable engineering teams to successfully operate and gain insights into the behaviour of applications in “hands-off” environments
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and assist with troubleshooting issues that arise
  • You will be a key person for the development organisation by collecting and communicating the overall picture that will enable the teams to achieve better results

With a remote-first mindset, you would join an international team with the possibility to work from our offices around the globe when needed.

The Team

The Infrastructure Team’s mission is to design, build and develop secure and highly available infrastructure, but also to provide a self-service environment that enables software development teams to move fast, stay compliant and take end-to-end responsibility for their products.

Major elements of our platform include AWS (we make significant use of S3, RDS, Kinesis, EC2, EMR, ElastiCache, ElasticSearch and EKS). Elements of the platform will start to expand into GCP (Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, Google Kubernetes Engine and BigQuery). Other significant tools of the platform include Linux, Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker, Packer, Ansible and Jenkins. We support applications and services written in Golang, Python, Java, Scala and .Net. We monitor and alert on everything we deploy via Grafana, Prometheus, Graphite and ELK stacks.

The team holds itself accountable to a high standard of build quality. We have recently completed the first major phase of a completely green-field infrastructure and platform rebuild that is designed to underpin Cint’s business applications for the next decade. We are compulsive about infrastructure as code (nothing in our platform is created or deployed unless via a code change) and driven to achieve a full end to end continuous deployment pipeline.

What We Are Looking For

  • You will be someone that shares our values and ambitions and can bring something to the team that we can benefit from. It might be prior experience of the journey, architectural insight into cloud native systems, specific technology expertise in parts of our stack or a combination of them all. Whatever it is, you will be the kind of person that is energised by complex challenges, teamwork and problem solving.

Qualifications

Required qualifications:

  • You have experience in predominantly cloud infrastructure roles (AWS) working within teams that practice DevOps
  • You can interact confidently with cloud platforms including AWS & GCP via CLI and/or API
  • You have expertise and solid experience in deploying infrastructure as code with, at minimum, Terraform and ideally some of the supporting cast (Ansible, Packer)
  • You have excellent knowledge of building and running Docker images/containers
  • You have excellent knowledge and understanding of the software development lifecycle, including the use of git and continuous integration tools (Jenkins’ Groovy DSL, TravisCI, GitHub Actions etc.)
  • You have a grasp of “cloud native” and 12-Factor applications
  • You have good knowledge of monitoring and alerting using one or more of: Graphite, Statsd, Prometheus, Grafana, PagerDuty
  • You have expertise in at least one scripting or programming language (Python, Bash, Ruby, Node, Golang, Java)

Bonus Points If You Have

  • You have good knowledge of the network stack at L4 and L7, particularly inter VPC routing
  • You have some experience with managing DNS and resolver hierarchies
  • You can debug HTTP APIs and understand other L7 protocols
  • You have experience at administering Kubernetes
  • You have specific cloud security expertise (threat assessment, attack surface management, SGs, NACLs, data security)
  • You have experience of building and running Windows servers in AWS
  • You have experience of continuous deployment strategies and technologies (Blue/Green, DNS or LB weighting, automated regression testing, Spinnaker, CodeDeploy, Jenkins for CD)

Our client, a fast-growing technology firm, is looking for a highly skilled Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to join their fully remote team. This role offers the ultimate flexibility to work from anywhere in the UK. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing scalable, reliable, and secure cloud infrastructure that underpins our critical business operations and product delivery. This is a remote-first opportunity to shape our cloud strategy.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, deploy, and manage robust cloud infrastructure solutions on platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM templates.
  • Develop and manage CI/CD pipelines for automated application deployment and infrastructure provisioning.
  • Ensure the security, availability, scalability, and performance of cloud environments.
  • Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions to proactively identify and resolve issues.
  • Automate operational tasks and processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
  • Collaborate with development teams to optimize application performance and reliability in the cloud.
  • Develop and enforce cloud governance policies, cost management strategies, and best practices.
  • Participate in on-call rotations to provide 24/7 support for critical infrastructure.
  • Stay current with emerging cloud technologies and trends, evaluating and recommending new solutions.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure engineering, with a strong focus on at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Proven experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (Terraform, Ansible, etc.).
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Strong understanding of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, etc.).
  • Knowledge of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, load balancing).
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, Datadog).
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, essential for a remote team environment.
  • Relevant cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator) are a plus.
Join a forward-thinking company that embraces remote work and offers the chance to build and manage cutting-edge cloud infrastructure.
