Our client, a global insurance holding company is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Azure Cloud Migration Architect, on an initial 9 months contract, to lead the final stage of their transformation journey from on-premises VMware to Microsoft Azure AVS (Azure VMware Solution). This role is central to our client's cloud strategy and is responsible for shaping and executing the technical design, migration architecture, and future operating model within Azure.
With a deep technical foundation in Azure and AVS, you will drive collaboration across internal stakeholders, external partners, and cloud providers to ensure a seamless and secure migration. Strategic thinking, leadership, and cloud architecture excellence are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the final phase of our client's cloud migration from on-premises VMware infrastructure to Azure AVS.
- Own and drive technical design decisions for Azure-based cloud architecture, ensuring alignment with business needs and compliance requirements.
- Act as a subject matter expert in AVS and Azure cloud-native technologies, guiding internal teams and external delivery partners.
- Manage cloud operations partners, ensuring execution of optimization, standardization, remediation, testing, and documentation.
- Engage with Microsoft and enterprise partners to coordinate technical migration plans and strategies.
- Partner with business units to align applications with cloud policies, automation standards, and security requirements.
- Work with the client's security team to maintain and evolve a secure-by-design Azure environment.
- Advise on cost optimization, SOX and DPIA compliance, and network/security/monitoring best practices for AVS and native Azure services.
- Collaborate with the Cloud Strategy team and report on progress, challenges, and improvements to senior management.
- Lead the Terraform-based IaaS migration, transitioning on-premises infrastructure into scalable Azure resources.
- Stay informed on emerging technology trends and continuously evaluate their relevance to the client's cloud vision.
Knowledge & Expertise
- Deep, practical expertise in Microsoft Azure, AVS, cloud infrastructure, security, and governance (Azure certifications preferred).
- Strong knowledge of cloud-native architecture, infrastructure automation (IaC), disaster recovery, and DevOps tools (e.g., Azure DevOps).
