Through growth, they are looking for experienced Turners - either setting/operating or operating as part of their extended growth plans.Our client is based in Wolverhampton WV6, with excellent transport links.
Pay: 15.00-16.00ph dependant on experience
Hours: Monday-Friday 08:00-16:00 (Friday's 15:00)
Key Responsibilities of a CNC Machine Operator:
Responsibilities:
- Preparing and setting CNC machines to perform turning operations- Setting of lathes for the operators.
- Training of less experienced operators.
- Working on various lathe types, including twin spindle and multi-station machinery (Doosan and DMG).
- Program adjustments with Fanuc and Siemens controls working to the given setter packs.
- Working on a range of parts from small batch to long runs.
-Preparation and loading of raw materials and parts onto the machines
- Inspect and measure finished products against requirements
- Checking and maintaining machinery daily to ensure functionality
- To comply with all Health and Safety regulations and instructions
- To comply with all relevant Standards, including ISO 9001 and AS9100.
Requirements:

- Experience as a CNC setter or operator
- Able to use precision measuring equipment
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical documents and engineering drawings
- Mechanical aptitude and good mathematical skills

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Analyse specifications on SOP’s, bills of material and engineering drawings. li>Set up machine tools, cutting tools jigs and fixtures, gauges and/or machinist hand tools.
- Run CNC and manual machinery, predominantly JIG Boring and grinding, including turning and/or milling.
- Verify dimensions, alignments and clearances of finished parts for conformance to specification, using measuring instruments such as Calipers, Micrometers, Gauge Blocks and Dial Indicators.
- Study engineering drawings, sketches, models or specifications to plan sequences of operations for manufacture.
- Produce components to close tolerances of 0.0002” 0.005mm. < i>Set up and operate conventional or CNC controlled machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, jig borers and grinders to manufacture parts to specified dimensions and finishes.
- Conduct test runs with completed tools or dies to ensure parts meet specification, analysing reporting and correcting any quality issues as necessary.
- Able to work with engineering drawings dimensioned in imperial or metric.
- Must liaise with the engineering department about the development/updates of documented setup sheets, tool lists and other associated documentation necessary for efficient manufacturing of machined components.
- Communicate with Manufacturing Management Staff and Machinists for shift change over and process requirements.
- Perform daily routine maintenance checks on machines (I.E., grease, oil, coolant, filters).
- Maintain ongoing department operations, carry out first off inspections where required.
Experience required:
- Time-served Engineering Manufacturing Apprenticeship.
- Formal Engineering Training or qualification.
- Minimum of 5+ years’ experience programming, setting up and operating CNC machines, machining various types of materials.
Hours of work and benefits
- 264 hours holiday per year (including bank holidays)
- Salary between £35,000 and £39,500 depending on experience < i>2 different hours available either: (Monday – Thursday 7am - 4.30pm & Friday 7am – 11am
Or Monday – Thursday 6.00am - 2.30pm & Friday 6am – 12 Noon)
