My client is currently looking for a CNC Programmer to join their precision engineering team due to ongoing growth.
About the Role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a self-motivated Manufacturing Engineer with precision CNC programming experience to join a leading aerospace-focused precision engineering company. This role offers the chance to work on 3, 4, and 5-axis machine tools, developing processes for new products and improving manufacturing efficiency. The successful candidate will be responsible for generating CNC programmes, creating tooling and inspection plans, and ensuring high-quality production while optimising cost and workflow.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare CNC programmes from planned processes, including tool definition, setup sheets, and tooling plans, and prove programmes into production.
- Configure all supporting process elements including production routings, tooling, gauges, test equipment, work holding, and CNC programmes.
- Determine materials and tools needed to meet manufacturing goals according to product specifications at the lowest cost.
- Make improvements to current operations to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
- Develop processes and methods to meet manufacturing requirements with a focus on quality and cost-effectiveness.
- Collaborate with the New Product Introduction (NPI) team on new projects.
- Support the development of documentation to enhance process control.
- Ensure all engineering processes are controlled by the quality management system.
- Conduct ongoing research into emerging manufacturing and production technologies to support current and future strategies.
- Present and communicate at all levels, including with customers where appropriate.
Skills and Experience Required:
- Proficient in CAD/CAM software for generating 3D models and CNC programmes (GibbsCAM preferred).
- Experienced in machine tool and cutting tool specification and application.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Previous experience using SOLIDWORKS.
- Knowledge of precision engineering processes including milling and turning.
- Understanding of aerospace requirements, particularly operating to AS9100 standards.
- Experience working to schedules and planning workloads effectively.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to implement solutions quickly.
- Excellent communication skills across all levels and an ability to engage stakeholders.
- Project management experience and a proactive, results-oriented attitude.
Qualifications:
- Educated in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Aerospace) to degree, HNC, or HND level or equivalent.
- Relevant training/qualification in CAD/CAM software.
- Experience in a manufacturing/production role within a medium or large precision engineering organisation, ideally aerospace-focused.
