The Role:
Veritas Education are working with a number of special educational needs schools in the Leeds and West Yorkshire area, looking specifically for Communication Support staff members. Veritas have a number of positions available, from working with Early Years and Primary age groups, to the post 16/young adult classes.
The ideal candidate:
- Previous experience supporting child and young adults with communication needs and requirements.
- Previous experience and knowledge around different communication aids, such as PECS, Makaton, and British Sign Language.
- Comfortable supporting learners who have a range of communication needs, including learners who are non-verbal, to learners who are pre-verbal/in the process of developing their communication abilities.
- Confident in delivering appropriate support to a range of communication and learning needs.
- Able to support on a 1-2-1 basis with specific learners, delivering targeted intervention and activities focused on developing their communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with autism and communication/language difficulties
- Assist in developing and implementing individualised learning plans and interventions
- Support pupils in making progress in communication, social skills, and academic learning
- Use alternative communication methods such as AAC, Makaton, and PECS to help non-verbal pupils express themselves

The Ideal Candidate:
