Legal Compliance Manager - Media sector

£70,000 - £80,000 dependent upon experience

Audit & Risk Recruitment are delighted to be partnering with a very well known group in the media sector. Our client is a large, highly complex organisation with a challenging Risk profile. This role reports to the Head of Risk Management and will be responsible for managing risks associated with Compliance across the whole business, as well as preparing quality, timely reports for a selection of governance committees.

Key tasks include:

• Taking accountability for compliance risk deliverables and outputs, including the preparation of compliance reports
• Work with stakeholders to identify compliance risk areas and vulnerability. Monitor compliance and assurance activity, and create remediation plans as necessary.
• Draft Executive-level summaries for senior stakeholders detailing compliance issues, findings and outcomes
• Provide insight and analysis to Board-level executives
• Drive a culture of compliance and integrity across the organisation.
• Become an expert in compliance-related risks and activities for the organisation, including staying on top of developments and trends and adapting to business strategy

You will be a legal compliance expert with plenty of in-house experience, preferably gained from the commercial or industrial sectors. You must have a detailed understanding of compliance risk management programmes and what 'good' looks like. You will need excellent written and oral communication skills.

Compliance and Financial Crime:

•Responsible for developing and maintaining Compliance culture within the Bank.

• Create, review and update Compliance policies and procedures in line with regulatory

guidelines.

• Horizon Scanning and mapping of regulations with relevant business and operations.

• Create, review and update of policies and procedures pertaining to Financial Crime

areas including KYC, AML, Sanctions, ABC and Fraud.

• MLRO Report covering Enterprise-Wide Financial Crime Risk Assessment and oversight

• Developing a risk-based Compliance Monitoring Plan (CMP).

• Implementation and review of CMP across departments and branches.

• Follow up on action points emanating from Compliance Oversight Reviews.

• Periodic reporting of KRIs and KPIs to Board Risk Committee / Group Compliance.

• Liaising with internal and external stakeholders including regulators.

• Maintain and update management responsibilities map.

• Oversight of frauds, including pursuing legal / criminal action.

• Periodical oversight of product features / policies / procedures to ensure adherence to

regulatory requirements.

• Review marketing initiatives / campaigns to ensure adherence to regulatory

requirements.

• Accountability and responsibility from all functionaries of Legal & Compliance

department and to ensure that appropriate mechanism is put in place for these to be

duly accounted for in performance reviews of concerned employee and

Legal:

• Review of legal agreements.

• Monitor changes in relevant laws and regulations and update policies accordingly.
• Investigate compliance breaches and recommend appropriate actions.
• Develop and deliver compliance training to employees.
• Prepare compliance reports for senior management and regulatory bodies.
• Ensure adherence to data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR).
• Liaise with external auditors and regulatory agencies.
• Promote a strong culture of compliance and ethical conduct.
• Advise business units on compliance-related matters.

• Law degree or equivalent professional qualification in a relevant field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in legal compliance, risk management, or a related role.
• In-depth knowledge of relevant legal and regulatory frameworks.
• Experience with compliance audit procedures and investigations.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
• Proficiency in compliance management software and tools.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a remote setting.
• Professional certifications (e.g., CIPP, ACAMS) are a plus.
