We are looking for a Governance, Compliance and Planning Manager to join the team in this hybrid-working role.
Position: Governance, Compliance and Planning Manager
Location: Hybrid working available with a base at Leatherhead and occasional travel across Surrey
Hours: 37h per week
Salary: £40,000 (per annum)
Contract: Permanent

The Role
The Governance, Compliance and Planning Manager is a vital cross-organisational role at the organisation. As a key member of the Senior Management Team (SMT), you will ensure governance structures, compliance, policy framework, and strategic planning processes are robust, legally compliant, and effective.
This role will strengthen the governance culture and work collaboratively with SMT colleagues as well as the Department Leads Group (DLG) to ensure that the charity remains aligned to its mission, values, and strategic ambitions.
You will also act as Company Secretary, supporting the Board of Trustees as well as the Policy Committee and Risk Committee, Finance Committee, and providing internal oversight of governance, risk, and compliance functions.
Key responsibilities include:
Governance and Board Support
Compliance, Policy, and Risk Management
Strategic and Operational Planning
Human Resources (in Collaboration with External HR Support)
Organisational Systems and Coordination
Collaboration and Cross-organisational Leadership
About You
You will have a degree level of education or equivalent professional experience and a professional qualification in governance, compliance, risk, or legal (e.g., ICSA/CGI) and evidence of CPD.
You will have:
Senior-level experience in governance, compliance, or Company Secretary role
Experience supporting Boards and committees
Policy and risk management experience
Compliance with charity/company law and GDPR
Strategic and operational planning experience
HR process oversight
Line management experience

About the Organisation
The charity is a mental health and emotional wellbeing charity, supporting Surrey residents since 1994 in Banstead, Elmbridge, Epsom & Ewell and Mole Valley.
Offering a variety of face-to-face and online services, available to adults (aged 16+) living in Surrey who would like to restore and/or maintain their mental and emotional wellbeing (no diagnosis needed). The services are free of charge, with no waiting list and no time limit.

Purpose of the Job:
- Promote the company’s sustainability goals by ensuring environmental compliance across our products and supply chain
- Ensure compliance with international environmental directives - both in our finished products and through our supply chain

Main Duties & Responsibilities:
Regulatory Monitoring and Reporting
- Monitor and interpret changes to environmental regulations and standards impacting product materials, recyclability and energy consumption in key markets (EU, UK, US, Canada, etc.).
- Draft, issue, and maintain up-to-date product compliance statements for customers and regulatory bodies.
- Prepare and submit SCIP notifications in the ECHA database, ensuring accuracy of content.
- Supplier Engagement and Data Collection Coordinate the collection and validation of supplier declarations for substances of concern, restricted substances, and POPs (PFAS, REACH SVHC, RoHS).
- Liaise with suppliers globally to obtain declarations of conformity, full material disclosures, and supporting technical documentation.
- Maintain up-to-date CMRT and EMRT reporting in line with OECD due diligence guidance and RMI (Responsible Minerals Initiative) requirements.
Testing, Analysis and Documentation
- Evaluate components and materials against restricted substances list.
- Review material and component specifications to identify and mitigate regulatory compliance risks.
- Coordinate environmental testing, lifecycle analysis and impact assessments when required.
- Develop and maintain internal compliance databases and document control systems.
Internal Support & Training
- Provide technical support to R&D, commercial and purchasing teams on regulatory matters and customer compliance inquiries.
- Support internal audits and external certification processes related to material compliance and supply chain transparency.
- Support customer inquiries and audits related to environmental compliance.
- Deliver training and raise awareness of environmental regulations and best practices within the organisation

The key responsibilities include:
- Simultaneously managing multiple assessment projects across all lifecycle stages (planning, testing, reporting, follow-up) using project and time management methods, ensuring timely delivery and quality with minimal supervision.
- Independently identifying and assessing risk, Identifying key controls within a process, designing internal controls and repeatable test plans.
- Conducting independent testing and validation of key controls to ensure they are well-designed and working effectively to reduce risks and provide good customer.
The successful applicant will have a thorough and detailed understanding of risk and controls. They will have robust report writing skills as well as exemplary time management as reports are submitted on a quarterly basis and without delay and so commitment to the timings are important.
