Alexander Lloyd are partnered with a well established Legal firm based in the heart of Leeds, who are looking for an experienced Compliance Specialist to work from the office just 3 days per week following probation!
About the Role:
We are look for a a proactive and detail-oriented Compliance & Risk Specialist to join and establish a small team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a compliance professional to play a key role in shaping and enhancing risk, governance, and ESG frameworks while supporting strategic and operational initiatives across the business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Head of Compliance to develop and implement the department's business plan.
- Lead the risk review process, including quarterly assessments, emerging risk identification, and coordination of Risk Committee meetings.
- Maintain the enterprise risk management system and support the production of board-level reporting.
- Develop and manage the Environment, Social & Governance (ESG) framework to ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and client requirements.
- Partner with business units and key stakeholders to support operational compliance activities.
- Provide expert advice on remediating operational risk events and compliance breaches.
- Oversee vendor management processes to ensure alignment with internal procedures and client expectations, including providing training and guidance to vendor relationship managers.
- Design and deliver compliance training programs tailored to regulatory and operational needs.
- Support internal projects to enhance and maintain internal systems and controls.
- Conduct compliance monitoring reviews and internal audits, both scheduled and ad hoc.
- Assist with client audits and follow up on recommendations.
- Produce management information for regulatory and board reporting.
- Drive continuous improvement in compliance processes and controls.
- Maintain and develop ISO 9001-certified Quality Management Systems and support other certifications as needed.
- Stay current with industry developments and regulatory changes in compliance, risk management, and ESG.
- Demonstrate company values through day-to-day work, collaboration, and leadership.
What We're Looking For:
- Proven experience in compliance, risk management, or a related governance role
- Solid understanding of regulatory environments, ESG frameworks, and quality standards (e.g., ISO 9001)
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Analytical, process-oriented approach with a continuous improvement mindset
- Experience with risk systems (e.g., Protecht) and preparing board-level reports is desirable
- Strong organisational and multitasking capabilities
