- Prepare research materials: draft note skeletons, data analysis, and sector updates.
- Analyse economic, financial, and industry trends to generate original insights.
- Build and review company/sector models, conduct statistical and financial analysis.
- Prepare investment cases, presentations, and internal research summaries.
- Respond to client, sales, and trading desk enquiries with timely and accurate data.
- Begin own coverage of 1–2 companies under senior guidance.
Requirements:
- Strong academic background with finance, economics, or technical qualifications; progress toward CFA an advantage.
- Completion (or willingness to complete) UK Financial Regulation and Securities exams.
- Excellent analytical and modelling skills with ability to interpret financial statements.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work both independently and in a team.
- Commitment to professional development and meeting FCA Conduct Rules.

KPMG’s Strategy & Performance Transformation practice is looking for exceptional Associate candidates with Energy Transition and/or Oil & Gas experience in a Deal, Strategy and/or Ops and Transformation.
The Strategy & Performance Transformation team is part of KPMG’s rapidly expanding Strategy Group, which delivers value for clients by challenging conventional thinking, bringing deep industry and functional insights and executing with investor-grade rigour. We are a diverse team of over 150 practitioners, working collaboratively with and orchestrating KPMG’s broad set of capabilities within our Deal Advisory business.

What will you be doing?
To be an effective Associate within our Strategy & Performance Transformation , applicants will be expected to:
- Work as part of a team to address complex market, strategic, operational and organisational issues for Energy clients
- Conduct primary and secondary research to develop insightful analysis for clients
- Design and execute analysis to support the development of evidence-based insights
- Develop opportunities with business cases and implementation plans for our clients, underpinned by robust review and analysis
- Independently own and drive work, taking on the responsibility to managing small teams as required and supporting junior team member development
- Develop close working relationships with the client, often working in joint teams at client sites, in the development and delivery of recommendations
- Contribute to business development and thought leadership, to support practice development
What will you need to do it?
- Strong deal, commercial and/or strategy experience in the energy sector.
- Experience working in a leading strategy house, Big 4 firm, public sector organisation or strategy / development team in industry
- Strong foundational understanding of the value drivers within the Energy Sector
- Experience of leading project workstreams and taking responsibility for small teams
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with team members and broader (internal and external) stakeholders
Skills we’d love to see/Amazing Extras:
- A high level of applied thinking and intellectual curiosity
- Strong numerical and analytical skills, combined with sound commercial acumen
- Experience working in the ENR sector (either internally or as a consultant)
- A pragmatic approach to analysis and problem solving, with the ability to structure client issues and implement conceptual models in complex environments
- An ability to assess information and distil into key strategic insights, as well as convey these clearly and succinctly in both oral and written form
- To be comfortable in developing analysis and opportunities in often ambiguous or changing client situations
- An ability to work both collaboratively and individually, with a willingness to constructively challenge clients, peers and leaders
- To be able to form excellent working relationships, both within KPMG and with clients
- Flexibility to adapt to a variety of different engagement types, working hours and work environments and locations
- Highest degree of personal and business integrity
- Additional language skills would be a bonus
