Penspen is hiring a Cost Estimating Engineer to be based in the UK for a 12-16 months assignment.

The Cost Estimating Engineer will be responsible and have experience in project cost estimation for engineering, procurement and construction for major Oil and Gas/Petrochemical projects. He/She must be capable of evaluating and consulting on project cost estimation and forecasting issues and problems.

The candidate must meet the below specifications to qualify for this role -

Education and Years of Experience:

1. Bachelor's Degree in Engineering /Quantity Surveying/Administration/Business or Equivalent closely related field with 8 years experience in similar role

(OR)

1. Diploma or Equivalent with a Certificate from a recognized agency in one or more areas of project cost estimation related expertise with 12 years experience in similar role

Job Type: Fixed term contract

Contract length: 16 months

Pay: £55,000.00-£60,000.00 per year

• Prepare accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for construction projects from bid stage to contract award.
• Analyze tender documents, blueprints, specifications, and site conditions.
• Quantify materials, labor, and equipment costs.
• Obtain, review, and negotiate quotes from subcontractors and suppliers.

• Significant experience as a Construction Estimator, preferably in a senior or lead role.
• Demonstrated experience working remotely and managing estimating processes independently.
• Proficiency in construction estimating software (e.g., CostX, Planswift, Buildsoft) and quantity surveying techniques.
• In-depth knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building codes.
• Strong understanding of procurement, tendering processes, and contract management.
• Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
• Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to interpret complex architectural and engineering drawings.
• Relevant degree or professional qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field is highly desirable.
