Associate Director- Technology Consulting Food & Drink


Campden BRI support food & drink manufacturers and retailers with all of their training, technical advice and consultancy needs. You will work with our brilliant & UK leading technical experts across Product Innovation, Process Innovation, Training, Sensory & Consumer Science, Global Food Safety & Regulatory to ensure an excellent consulting service to our clients that adds value to the food and drink supply chain.


You'll sit as part of our leadership team to work closely with all business units to deliver a great client experience and retain clients by growing our relationships and supporting their aims. Delivering a service that is sustainably profitable for Campden BRI overall.

Collaborate with analysis and testing to build and evolve a cohesive client proposition that supports the needs of the food and drink supply chain.


Lead change and be an advocate across the business to improve client service, operational delivery, and process efficiency. Work with sales and other scientists across the business, to build and maintain an effective pipeline of profitable work for Consulting. Actively seek opportunities for cross-sell into other business units to further support clients and build long lasting solutions to issues and opportunities.

Requirements

  • Experience and passion for client centricity
  • Technical and consulting experience within the food and drink supply chain
  • Degree in relevant science or technology-based subject (Chemical Engineering, Food Science/Technology or similar)
  • Direct leadership experience within a food and drink company
  • Successfully owned a P&L
  • Strong commercial acumen and a strong track record of delivering within a consultancy environment
  • Deep understanding of client issues across the food and drink supply chain in product safety, quality, assurance, innovation / reformulation, and process improvement
  • Specialism in at least one area of product safety/quality, innovation/reformulation, regulatory or thermal / non-thermal processing
  • Engaging people leader with the ability to align and engage teams across the business
  • Deep financial understanding, particularly investment-based business cases

A leading organisation in the HR, payroll, and workforce management space is seeking an experienced Director to lead its Management Consulting practice. This role offers the opportunity to shape and grow a strategic consulting offering across diverse sectors, including enterprise, mid-market, and public sector.


About the Role

You will lead a team of management consultants delivering high-impact strategic engagements. Your expertise will cover areas such as payroll and HR strategy, business case development, operational improvement, change management, and business-as-usual enhancements.


This highly visible, customer-facing position requires strong leadership and delivery capabilities, owning the P&L, ensuring customer satisfaction, and driving consistent achievement of project goals on time, on budget, and to high quality standards.


You will be pivotal in fostering strong cross-functional relationships internally and externally, working closely with Commercial, Product, Technology, Implementation, and Managed Services teams. Your pragmatic, transformational approach and gravitas will position you as a trusted advisor and a voice of the customer within the business.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and grow the Management Consulting practice, managing both team and P&L
  • Drive customer engagement from opportunity through to delivery and post-project reviews
  • Assemble and lead tailored project teams to deliver strategic consulting engagements
  • Ensure delivery excellence, customer benefit realization, and adherence to quality and financial targets
  • Act as a key influencer and collaborator across business functions
  • Champion continuous improvement and innovation in consulting delivery

The Manager will take ownership of high-value workstreams, typically generating ~£2m of impact for clients. You will provide strategic oversight, ensure alignment of KPIs to organisational objectives, and lead a small team of consultants to deliver measurable results at pace.



Role Highlights


  • Lead and mentor up to four consultants, combining analytical rigour with on-site delivery
  • Translate organisational goals into clear KPIs and governance structures that sustain performance improvement
  • Partner directly with client stakeholders at operational and senior management levels to overcome barriers to success
  • Shape the narrative for progress updates, ensuring senior stakeholders are aligned and engaged
  • Identify risks early and work with programme leadership to maintain delivery momentum



You Will Need


  • A strong consulting background with proven success delivering transformation across sectors such as defence, infrastructure, retail, manufacturing, government or healthcare
  • Experience of direct line management and building capability within teams
  • Ability to build trust and credibility with senior executives and client sponsors
  • Analytical expertise and the resilience to tackle complex, ambiguous challenges
  • Willingness to travel and work on client sites across the UK
