Job Description

We look for character over credentials:
  • We're a specialist financial technology company transforming B2B credit (website)
  • We're backed by top European and American VCs including Dawn Capital, Octopus Ventures, Talis and Expa
  • Founded in 2020, we are licensed and operating across the UK, Europe, US and Canada with offices in London, New York and Dallas
  • Since our commercial launch in March 2022, we are already serving some of the world's largest companies, providing them with superior credit protection and innovative risk management technology
About the role:

We're looking for a hands-on Tech Lead to drive the next evolution of our platform. You'll lead by example — designing architecture, managing engineers and shaping how we integrate AI and large language models into our products and workflows. This is a role for someone who loves building, learning fast, and shaping technical direction.

In addition to being a strong individual contributor, you'll take on a clear engineering leadership role — driving initiatives, setting priorities, and ensuring plans turn into delivery. You'll keep the team focused and aligned, while encouraging innovation and maintaining the discipline needed for high-quality execution.

You will be deeply involved in technology decision making, architecture and best practices, while staying close to the code base and championing best practices. Beyond the core programming skills, we value strengths in areas like data, security, or DevOps that raise the team's overall bar.

Above all, we're looking for a positive, collaborative leader — confident in their skills, outcome-focused, and able to challenge ideas constructively. Someone who balances delivery with continuous learning and teaching.

Reporting to our CTO, Yoel Marson (link), you'll partner with product and data teams while leading a small group of engineers. This is a fantastic opportunity to join one of the most exciting financial technology companies, with the chance to grow and develop alongside the business.

Our approach to Engineering:

We follow an Agile development methodology - but unlike others, we use a flexible variant of Scrum across the entire organisation, including executive tasks and decisions.

Our multidisciplinary team offers flexibility for individuals to move between core engineering, infrastructure, testing and research.

Our stack includes Go, VueJS, Postgres and Python, deployed through a fully automated AWS environment (Terraform, Ansible, GitHub Actions). Alongside this, we're building the next generation of our data and AI infrastructure — exploring frameworks like Hugging Face, LangChain, LlamaIndex and agent orchestration systems.

We use Cursor and Copilot to speed iteration and experimentation. We're always open to new approaches, whether it's a different data stack, AI toolkit, or a creative way to apply LLMs in production.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead by example: design and ship high-quality, scalable systems across our frontend and microservice stack.
  • Shape the roadmap: define architecture, set standards, and guide technical direction alongside the CTO.
  • Drive innovation: explore AI, LLMs, and data-driven features that enhance our products and workflows.
  • Raise the bar: champion testing, reliability, and continuous improvement.
  • Mentor and empower engineers: foster a culture of learning, accountability, and technical excellence.
  • Collaborate broadly: partner with product, data, and infrastructure teams to deliver impactful solutions.
  • Evolve our engineering culture: introduce new tools and practices that boost speed, quality, and creativity.
You might be a good fit if
  • You have 6+ years of software engineering experience, including leading projects and small teams.
  • You're highly proficient in a server-side language (Go preferred; Python or Java also valuable).
  • You've built and designed distributed systems and scalable architectures.
  • You're comfortable across the stack, with experience in modern front-end frameworks (VueJS, React, or Angular).
  • You have strong experience with relational databases (Postgres) and familiarity with NoSQL systems.
  • You're fluent in DevOps and infrastructure practices (AWS, Terraform, Ansible, Kubernetes).
  • You're confident in defining engineering standards, reviewing code, and mentoring developers.
  • You balance speed, security, and reliability in a growing platform.
  • You're passionate about AI and LLMs — from using tools like Cursor and Copilot to experimenting with frameworks such as Hugging Face or LangChain.
  • You communicate clearly, collaborate across disciplines, and translate technical complexity into business context.
  • You enjoy guiding direction while staying hands-on when needed.
Nice to haves
  • Experience leading technical discovery or architecture definition in a scaling SaaS or fintech environment.
  • Familiarity with event-driven or streaming architectures (Kafka, Apache Flink, etc.).
  • Practical exposure to AI/LLM orchestration frameworks or fine-tuning workflows.
  • Experience designing developer tools, data platforms, or intelligent systems.
  • Interest in or experience mentoring engineers in applied AI.
  • Degree in Computer Science or related discipline (optional).
Logistics:
  • Compensation: Based on experience
  • Employment type: Permanent
  • Employee share option pool: Available - you will earn a stake in the company you are helping to build
  • Location: Hybrid (office on Bermondsey Street, 5-minute walk from London Bridge Station)
Company benefits:
  • Private healthcare
  • 25 days' holiday
  • Bike to work scheme
  • Electric vehicle car scheme
  • Private pension
  • £100/year towards physical challenge of choice
  • Learning and development support
