The Control of Contractors Coordinator is responsible for the successful and safe management of all subcontractor works through the implementation and ownership of the client's work authorisation and permit to work processes.

This role plays a critical part in ensuring that all activities carried out by third-party contractors are executed in a controlled, compliant, and safe manner, while also aligning with site-specific security and operational procedures.

Job Description

You will champion a proactive and diligent approach to governance, ensuring all relevant subcontractor documentation, checks, and control measures are in place before any work begins.

In addition, adherence to security escorting guidelines will be a key responsibility, ensuring a secure and compliant working environment for all site activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and book in subcontractors, including escorting onsite and ensuring compliance with security and site procedures.
  • Review and validate subcontractor documentation (RAMS, risk assessments, permits) and manage the prequalification process.
  • Issue and oversee Work Authorisations and Permits to Work in line with client and site requirements.
  • Deliver subcontractor inductions and carry out ad-hoc inspections to maintain safety, quality, and compliance.
  • Provide administrative support including logbooks, compliance records, and site security arrangements.
  • Liaise with subcontractors and stakeholders to coordinate works and ensure timely approvals.
  • Support the engineering team in planning and prioritising tasks, adapting to varying workloads across site.

Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications

  • Experience in a similar role preferred - with good understanding of M&E systems and compliance.
  • IOSH Managing Safely and ideally NEBOSH qualified or working towards.
  • Proven ability to manage subcontractors effectively with a focus on safety and operations.
  • Skilled in developing positive relationships with internal teams and external partners.
  • Capable of working under pressure in a fast-paced, reactive environment.
  • Confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills.

    Knowledge of statutory and legislative requirements within facilities or engineering.
  • Proactive and detail-oriented with a focus on delivering safe outcomes.
  • Ability to assess risk and act decisively in unpredictable situations.
  • Committed to high standards of safety, quality, and service delivery.

Our client, a reputable construction firm, is actively seeking motivated individuals to join their team as Apprentice Construction Workers. This apprenticeship program provides a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience and develop essential skills in various aspects of site operations and construction. You will work under the guidance of experienced tradespeople, learning practical skills, safety procedures, and the effective use of tools and machinery. This role requires individuals who are physically fit, eager to learn, safety-conscious, and committed to contributing to successful project delivery. Successful completion of the apprenticeship can lead to a full-time career within the company.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist skilled tradespeople with various construction tasks, including groundwork, formwork, concreting, and basic carpentry.
  • Learn and adhere to all site safety regulations and procedures, wearing appropriate PPE at all times.
  • Operate and maintain hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Assist with site preparation, including setting out, digging trenches, and managing materials.
  • Learn about different construction materials and their uses.
  • Transport materials and tools around the construction site as directed.
  • Contribute to maintaining a clean and organized worksite.
  • Support the installation of various building components.
  • Follow instructions from site supervisors and experienced workers accurately.
  • Attend all required apprenticeship training sessions and complete assignments.
  • Develop a broad understanding of the construction lifecycle and different trades involved.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade D/3 or above, including Maths and English, or equivalent qualifications.
  • A strong work ethic and a willingness to learn practical skills.
  • Good physical fitness and ability to perform manual labor.
  • Awareness of health and safety practices.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Reliable and punctual with a commitment to attending work and training regularly.
  • Basic understanding of construction or practical work is advantageous but not essential.
  • A genuine interest in pursuing a career in the construction industry.
