As Cost Accountant you will play a key role in determining and analysing direct variable costs and overheads with robust processes and business partnering with key stakeholders and budget holders across the business, forecasting cost behaviour throughout the month in real-time, offering valuable commentary on financial performance and making appropriate recommendations to drive profitability. Your role will support the Senior Commercial Accountant and Finance Director to manage the increasing demands of a growing, ambitious and data-driven company and deliver ad-hoc request for scoping and modelling costs associated with new projects.

What you’ll be doing?
· Responsibility for costing and forecasting costs within the business and commentating variance analysis to budget holders
· Driving continuous improvements in reporting, analysing and forecasting business performance
· Comprehensive understanding and tracking of the key cost drivers within the business in terms of behaviour and impact
· Working with budget holders to understand the key factors that contribute to the costs of the business to help build annual budgets that feed into the Group wide budget process
· Supporting budget holders to be able to ensure spend is inline with budget and where necessary reduce costs and drive cost savings through identifying risks and opportunities
· Identifying and investigating trends and offering recommendations to key stakeholders in order to drive growth and profitability in real-time for maximum reward
· Assisting with commercial tenders and other requests for new projects and initiatives, ensuring activities are fully scoped, modelled appropriately and all costs are considered and captured
· Building working relationships throughout the group with great exposure to the Senior Leadership Team
· Supporting the Senior Commercial Accountant and Finance Director where necessary

Main duties and responsibilities could include :
+ Understand and ensure compliance with the Contract actual cost accounting requirements, Ensure our finance operating processes, accounting standards and governance are followed.
+ Participate in preparation of monthly application for payment to the Client in line with contract T&C and assist in development and maintenance of Application for Payment/cost database.
+ Raise sales invoices based on approved payment certificates.
+ Oversee timely processing and payment of suppliers invoices, maintain subcontractors' invoice and cost trackers, reporting.
+ Take part in Client's monthly audits in line with the procedure and mutual assurance of other Partners under the Contract; being involved in preparation of Annual Statement.
+ Assist with preparation of projects set up, transactions management throughout the project duration, monthly accruals and projects closure.
+ Liaise with Resourcing team re personnel approvals/onboarding/offboarding, use of Resource database to extract audit information, if needed, monitor list of personnel working on the framework.
+ Understand build-up of bill rates in line with the contract and assist with calculations and true up, if needed.
As a **Cost and Assurance Accountant** you will already have:
+ Degree/qualification in relevant discipline or can be substituted by relevant experience.
+ Accounting/cost experience and understanding is essential
+ Used to handling sensitive and confidential information, including treatment of information in line with UK GDPR requirements
+ Effective / Competent Computerised systems skills (including Excel) and ability to work with data, spreadsheets and formulae
+ Ability to work to multiple deadlines and focused on delivery of best service to the Client and internal stakeholders
