The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in handling complex costs matters, with a particular focus on high-value group litigation . Key Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of costs in large-scale group litigation, from budgeting to detailed assessment.
- Draft and negotiate bills of costs, budgets (Precedent H), and costs schedules.
- Provide strategic advice on costs management and recovery in multi-party disputes.
- Liaise with fee earners, external counsel, and costs draftsmen to ensure effective case strategy.
- Prepare Points of Dispute and Replies, and attend detailed assessment hearings where required.
- Support internal teams with training and updates on costs developments and case law.
- Ensure compliance with CPR, costs rules, and court deadlines.
About You
- Qualified Costs Lawyer (ACL) with demonstrable post-qualification experience.
- Strong track record in complex and high-value litigation costs , ideally with exposure to group or collective redress claims .
- Excellent technical knowledge of costs law, budgeting, and the CPR.
- Skilled negotiator with the ability to manage competing deadlines under pressure.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience in international or cross-border litigation is advantageous but not essential.
