Government of Jersey have an exciting role for an experienced Consultant Clinical Psychologist/Psychology Lead to oversee, manage and provide delivery of psychological therapies and research within the Pain Service.
If you are a Consultant Clinical Psychologist with skills and knowledge in contemporary Pain Science and management, incorporating trauma informed care with a passion for teaching and research this is a perfect time to broaden your horizons and gather new experiences. A doctorate in Clinical Psychology is required as well as experience in pain management.
Be a part of the leadership team, which includes established Occupational therapy, Medical, Nursing and Physiotherapy team members and witness the tangible everyday impact of your work on people’s lives.
Our Pain Service covers a wide range of services including Specialist Spinal Assessment Service, Persistent Pelvic Pain Specialist Physiotherapist, Pain Management and Mindfulness for Health group programs. Main duties of the job:
- Works with the Consultant AHP & Strategic Lead to establish service wide trauma informed and relational interventions and innovations for the specialist fields of psychological provision for pain, for the benefit of the hospital and community
- Provides consultation to staff, clients and their families, Associate Chief AHL, HCS Executive and other Healthcare Professionals across the hospital and community relating to specialist service area
- To devise, lead, plan and conduct research and audit activity to direct appropriate service development and policy within specialist field and to inform policy and service development in Pain services. The post holder will play a pivotal role in ensuring the integration of research evidence into practice
- Design, plan, deliver and review the psychological provision for pain and the wider organisation, engaging stakeholders through co-design principles with the aim of providing up to date and evidence-based learning opportunities and education to HCS & community professionals and the public relating to psychological aspects of pain
- To work as an autonomous Consultant Clinical Psychologist with a highly complex clinical caseload, maintaining a national and international profile of expertise and provide strong professional leadership and clinical supervision skills and monitoring the pain multidisciplinary and broader teams in relation to psychological theory, interventions and innovations
Person specification:
Essential qualifications –
- Post-doctoral research profile demonstrated through consistent peer reviewed publication and conference presentation history
- Doctorate in Clinical Psychology
- Post doctoral management/ quality improvement/ leadership training required to deliver on role
- Evidence of postgraduate training to Master’s level or equivalent or equivalent in related fields of expertise relevant to Expert level practice in pain management (vocational rehabilitation, cognitive behavioural therapy, bio-psychosocial theory and practice, acceptance and commitment therapy and practice; Mindfulness; Compassion Focused Therapy)
- Registered, approved applied psychology supervisor (e.g. Register of Applied Psychology Practice Supervisors – RAPPS)
- For complex trauma and relational aspects, appropriate accreditation and registration as a therapist/teacher/supervisor with relevant bodies / prof. and accrediting organisations eg. EMDT/trauma focused CBT/CAT/DBT/Schema focused
- Registration with the Department of Health and Community Services and with the Health Professions Council
- Membership of Specialist interest professional bodies including the International Association for the study of Pain, the British Pain Society and the Division pf Clinical Psychologists of the British Psychological Society or equivalent is essential for the pain role

Position: Mental Health Support Workers
Location: Skelmersdale WN8
Salary: From £13.10 an hour
Contract : Part-Time 18 hours per week
Shifts : 2x Shifts per week, shifts type are:
- 4pm to 11pm (Sleep) then 7am to 9am (during the week)
- 11am to 11pm (Sleep) then 7am to 11am (during the weekend)

In this role, you will provide vital support to an adult with a Learning Disability impacting on verbal communication and cognitive processing, helping them navigate daily life with dignity and independence. This is more than a job. It is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact.
We are searching for extra special Health Care Support Workers who have experience, passion and pride when supporting people and this vacancy would suit someone who is looking for an exciting opportunity and wants to work in this area.
We are passionate about our Support Workers having both the right experience and the right values. This is why applicants should hold a full UK driving license, be resilient, flexible and composed in their approach. Experience with following Positive Behaviour Support plans and reflective practice is a must as well as experience working with complex individuals with health needs, traumatic backgrounds and challenging behaviours.
Responsibilities
Your work will include clinical and social care, tailored to each person's needs:
- Implement and adhere to individually tailored Positive Behavioural Support (PBS) plans to understand, prevent, and de-escalate incidents of challenging behaviour.
- Use approved and trained de-escalation techniques to manage situations calmly and safely.
- Challenging behaviour support. Responding with empathy and professionalism.
- Crisis intervention. Providing support during difficult moments.
- Promoting independence. Building confidence and life skills.
- Medication support. Ensuring safe and timely administration.
- Specialist clinical care. Addressing complex needs with expertise and compassion.

- To provide support, and spend therapeutic time with an allocated group of people supported.
- To promote and support the physical health, comfort, wellbeing and recovery of people supported, and to assist them in re-establishing their place in the community, as appropriate.
- To assist Registered Professionals in assessments and care planning/ implementation and evaluation of individualized care plans.
About you:
To be successful in this role you must be caring, have good communication and have the ability to adapting changing health needs. You will be fully flexible so we can continue to support people around the clock.
Due to the nature of the role you will need to have a UK or International manual driving license.
All successful candidates will be required to complete a full induction, which will take place in Chadderton, Oldham (OL9). This is a Nine day induction (Over 3 weeks) and we require all successful applicants to attend all days.
