Are you a quality professional who has worked your way into quality from a shopfloor machining or manufacturing role? That mix of experience is going to be a real advantage in this role, which isn't your usual run of the mill quality position.

The Business;
The business are a start up precision manufacturing business, making a storm in the world of CNC machining. Their business model is different to the usual precision machining business… as they are looking to set up multiple smaller machine shops across the UK and Internationally! They are supplying critical parts into the Aerospace and Defence industries mainly, so the work they do is high precision and high importance.

The Role;
This is a factory-based role, ensuring quality standards are correct throughout all the manufacturing facilities. You will ensure the QMS is maintained and developed, and all parts are manufactured to correct quality standards. You will carry out internal and external audits, support compliance through the business and carry out supplier quality duties as well. You need to understand process and paperwork!

• Performing visual and dimensional inspections of incoming materials, components, and finished products using precision measuring instruments.
• Conducting in-process quality checks at various stages of the manufacturing cycle.
• Documenting inspection results accurately and comprehensively in the quality management system.
• Identifying and segregating non-conforming materials or products, initiating corrective action requests as needed.
• Calibrating and maintaining inspection equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
• Assisting in the investigation of quality issues and contributing to the implementation of corrective and preventative actions (CAPA).
• Reviewing production documentation to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards.
• Participating in internal audits and quality improvement initiatives.
• Communicating effectively with production staff and other departments regarding quality matters.
• Adhering strictly to all safety regulations and company policies.

• Develop, implement, and maintain the company's Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with relevant industry standards (e.g., ISO 9001).
• Oversee all quality control activities, including incoming material inspection, in-process checks, and final product testing.
• Lead and manage the Quality Control team, providing training, guidance, and performance management.
• Establish and monitor key quality metrics and performance indicators (KPIs), reporting on trends and areas for improvement to senior management.
• Conduct internal audits and support external audits from regulatory bodies and customers.
• Investigate customer complaints and non-conformance issues, implementing root cause analysis and corrective/preventative actions (CAPA).
• Collaborate with production, engineering, and purchasing departments to ensure quality is integrated into all stages of the manufacturing process.
• Manage calibration and maintenance programs for all testing and measurement equipment.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations pertaining to quality control.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, process efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, or a related field. A Master's degree or relevant professional qualification is a plus.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in Quality Assurance or Quality Control management within a manufacturing environment.
• In-depth knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS), such as ISO 9001, and experience in implementing and maintaining them.
• Proven experience with quality control tools and methodologies, including statistical process control (SPC), FMEA, and root cause analysis techniques.
• Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Proficient in data analysis and reporting.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with all levels of the organization and external stakeholders.
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes relevant to the company's industry.
• Must be legally eligible to work in the UK and committed to working on-site in Southampton.

• Verify product conformity against engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
• Utilise precision measuring instruments and testing equipment accurately.

• Participate in root cause analysis of defects and recommend corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
• Maintain accurate inspection records and quality control documentation.
• Ensure a clean and organised work environment in accordance with quality standards.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of quality improvement initiatives.
• Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Conduct final product release inspections before shipment.
• Assist with internal and external audits as required.
• Stay updated on relevant quality standards and industry best practices.

• Proven experience as a Quality Control Inspector or in a similar quality assurance role within a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in using precision measuring tools and equipment (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges).
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and quality control principles.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Familiarity with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001) is a plus.
• High school diploma or equivalent; relevant technical qualification preferred.
