Creative Arts Assistant – September 2025 Start
Hours: 08:30 to 15:30
Location: Cwmbran
A cluster of welcoming and inclusive schools in the Cwmbran area is looking to appoint a Creative Arts Assistant to join their team from September 2025. This is a unique opportunity to use your creativity to support pupils with a range of needs, including autism, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges, and other additional learning needs (ALN).
As a Creative Arts Assistant , you’ll work across both mainstream and specialist settings, helping young people express themselves, develop confidence, and engage in learning through art, music, drama, and other creative approaches. This role is perfect for someone with a passion for the arts and a desire to make a meaningful impact on children’s emotional and educational development.
You’ll need to be calm, resilient, and adaptable, with the confidence to support pupils in a variety of classroom settings. Your creativity and ability to connect with learners will be key in building positive relationships and supporting their wellbeing and progress.
Requirements
The ideal Creative Arts Assistant will have:

Experience working with children or young people in educational or creative settings

An understanding of how to support learners with ALN, including SEMH and autism

A caring, patient, and nurturing approach to behaviour and learning support

The ability to work collaboratively with teachers and other support staff

A positive attitude and a genuine enthusiasm for helping pupils thrive
Desirable but not essential:

A background in art, music, drama or a related creative subject

Experience in ALN bases, pupil referral units, or alternative provision settings
