    This is a new role, to lead the analytical work for the creative industries and AI directorate within DCMS. You will oversee a newly formed multidisciplinary team of initially 6 analysts, embedded in the policy directorate and working closely with policy officials to support and influence decisions. It is a dynamic and varied policy area to work in, where you will be tasked with shaping a rapidly evolving evidence base and applying it to challenging policy questions. The role would suit someone comfortable working at pace and leading a team through ambiguity, whilst driving forward the development of the evidence base and building strong relationships to influence decision making. Key responsibilities will include: Leading a team of 6 analysts, providing the right environment, support and opportunities for team members to flourish, developing as individuals and delivering excellent outputs Working closely with policy leads and stakeholders to understand their needs and what evidence and analysis is required to answer key questions and make decisions, ensuring the team works flexibly to meet urgent requirements and works strategically to build the evidence base, for example to understand the impacts of AI on the creative industries Ensuring that we understand and accurately assess the impact of policy interventions and programmes, such as those announced for the Creative Industries sector plan, through high quality business cases, impact assessments and evaluations Taking an active role in the leadership of the directorate, and working with senior policy colleagues to champion and embed the use of evidence, whilst also contributing to the leadership of the analytical community across the department Person specification What are we looking for? Essential Requirements: Proven ability to lead high performing, inclusive, and collaborative teams to deliver strong outcomes across a range of work streams and areas An ability to build relationships with stakeholders and senior colleagues, working collaboratively to meet their needs and influence direction Strong analytical experience, with sound judgement when under pressure and a track record of bringing analysis right into the heart of policy making. The ability to think strategically about evidence and analysis, driving long term improvements in the evidence base whilst meeting short term needs Highly effective oral and written communication skills with the ability to distil complex analytical issues down to their key insights, judgements and recommendations Desirable Skills: Knowledge and understanding of the creative industries Knowledge and understanding of AI Eligibility and Testing Process: As part of the application process, you will be asked to confirm your current analytical profession (GES, GORS, GSR, or GSG), or indicate if you are applying to become badged in one of these professions. Things you need to know Selection process details This vacancy is using Success Profiles (opens in a new window) , and will assess your Behaviours, Experience and Technical skills.
