Critical Facilities Technician, Data Centre

The Critical Facilities Technician provides technical and facility support in a 24x7 data center environment, including maintenance and oversight of electrical, HVAC, civil and building management systems. We are looking for self-motivated team members who have a strong sense of urgency, and dedication to your team, our customers and IMDCu2019s vision. This is a full-time shift position, and may be required to work 1st, 2nd or 3rd shift.

**Your role in our mission:**
Take responsibility for the critical power, cooling/environmental, security, and support systems and facilities of IMDC to achieve or exceed uptime service levels.
Proactively support the safety of the environment and occupants and ensure that all safety procedures are followed while performing work.
Perform limited maintenance tasks to ensure smooth operation of the data centeru2019s heating and cooling systems and the overall facility.
Allow and monitor suppliers.
Monitor, resolve, and update all assigned service tickets using a ticket system, including fault reports and customer installations of electrical and physical equipment.
Perform daily operational measurements of all mechanical and electrical equipment and inspect buildings, grounds, and all equipment for unsafe or faulty operation.
Guide and periodically check suppliers during maintenance to ensure rules and company procedures are followed.
Proactively identify problems and take necessary steps to resolve them. Assist with service delivery tasks when needed.

**Valued skills and experience:**
Experience in a critical operational environment and/or data center experience is preferred but not required.
Multitasking u2013 We use various systems to manage ticket queues, and work tasks may change throughout the day.
Attention to detail u2013 the ability to understand and follow a documented process and Iron Mountainu2019s safety code; this role is very process-driven.
Organization & prioritization u2013 follow processes and manage your time with minimal supervision to complete work efficiently and on time.

Iron Mountain are continuing to expand our Data Center business exponentially and have a new position for a Senior Critical Facilities Technician to help support that growth. Ensure that accurate and comprehensive records are kept pertaining to Health & Safety, Building Compliance and Quality Assurance.
Ensure that sub-contractors perform to meet the requirement of the contract. Administer sub-contractor work approvals and safe operation while repair or service is carried out on site.
To operate a Permit to Work System in accordance with Iron Mountain DC Quality, Health & Safety procedures.
To supervise all shift and day staff
To ensure high standards of workmanship are adhered to at all times, to instil best working practices, regularly assess the quality of work produced by the team,
Provide support and guidance to staff to ensure smooth operation of clientu2019s plant and equipment, assist with fault finding, provide technical support and on-site training for shift engineers, allocate planned and reactive work to shift engineers, that plant faults and defects are swiftly remedied to maintain plant in serviceable order at all times, and any such defects are recorded on the site shift logs.
Routine quality checks on workforce activities, record keeping and general housekeeping.

**Valued skills and essential experience:**
Experience of maintaining tight humidity & temperature control conditioned environments.
General all round knowledge of Heating & Ventilation / Air Conditioning and building support systems and their methods of control.
Minimum of 2 years previous supervisory experience.
HV Qualification is essential for the role.
Electrical / Electronic Engineering,
LV Qualification or Extensive LV experience required
Data Centre or Critical Environment experience

**Job summary**

Iron Mountain are continuing to expand our Data Center business exponentially and have a new position for a Senior Critical Facilities Technician to help support that growth. The purpose of the role is to supervise day to day site activities of the maintenance team, reactive and subcontractor maintenance in ensuring the delivery of Planned Preventative Maintenance and Reactive works to Building Services Systems. Also you will be responsible for managing the daily QHSE requirements of the site and to maintain critical plant at optimum operating levels.

**Your role in our mission:**
Ensure that Planned Preventative Maintenance & Reactive maintenance is carried out to all client assets through operation of Planned Preventative Maintenance System, and Service Now
Ensure that accurate and comprehensive records are kept pertaining to Health & Safety, Building Compliance and Quality Assurance.
Ensure that sub-contractors perform to meet the requirement of the contract. Administer sub-contractor work approvals and safe operation while repair or service is carried out on site.
To operate a Permit to Work System in accordance with Iron Mountain DC Quality, Health & Safety procedures.
To supervise all shift and day staff
To ensure high standards of workmanship are adhered to at all times, to instil best working practices, regularly assess the quality of work produced by the team,
Provide support and guidance to staff to ensure smooth operation of clientu2019s plant and equipment, assist with fault finding, provide technical support and on-site training for shift engineers, allocate planned and reactive work to shift engineers, that plant faults and defects are swiftly remedied to maintain plant in serviceable order at all times, and any such defects are recorded on the site shift logs.
Routine quality checks on workforce activities, record keeping and general housekeeping.

**Valued skills and essential experience:**
Experience of maintaining tight humidity & temperature control conditioned environments.
General all round knowledge of Heating & Ventilation / Air Conditioning and building support systems and their methods of control.
Minimum of 2 years previous supervisory experience.
HV Qualification is essential for the role.
Electrical / Electronic Engineering,
LV Qualification or Extensive LV experience required
Data Centre or Critical Environment experience

Manager for a new customer in a busy campus within the Slough area.
CBRE manages the maintenance of main UK Data Centre and is committed to the provision of an efficient and
effective critical engineering maintenance service. The primary function is to ensure 100% uptime of engineering
services to ensure there is zero impact to the client's business operations.
**Main purpose**
+ To provide direction and leadership of the CBRE Building Team and Contractors, for the effective management of the maintenance of premises, plant and equipment for the Data Centre.
+ The candidate will be the clients' focal point for all works happening withing the data centre for which they are looking after and will therefore need a sound understanding of the engineering, contractual and compliance requirements associated within a hyperscale
+ data centre.
**Main Duties and Responsibilities**
+ Develop and manage the client relationship and ensure a high level of service, attending client meetings where required.
+ Responsible for the Health and Safety of Engineers, contractors and Visitors to Site.
+ Work closely with the Contract Support Team to ensure that the service levels are maintained to a consistently high level.
+ Ensuring business policies and processes are effectively communicated and implemented within the contract.
+ Ensure compliance with legislative, client and CBRE health, safety and environmental programmes.
+ Provide effective solutions to development, training, and performance management.
+ Provide technical support across a wide spectrum of Services, to the CBRE team and client.
+ Ensure service line KPIs are met and reported on a monthly basis.
+ Provide leadership, ensuring that contractual commitments are met and exceeded.
+ Ensure service delivery is in line with agreed SLAs.
+ Prepare data for monthly Operational Reviews
+ Promote continuous improvement throughout the team.
+ Provide solutions and associated quotations for small project works.
+ Identify potential business opportunities across The Data Centre
+ Ownership for engineering activities within the Data Centre
+ Responsible for ensuring Maintenance regimes planned and implemented.
+ Responsible for Ensuring statutory and CBRE required logs are kept up to date and correct.
+ Oversee PPM Reactive and Corrective planning and execution for site.
+ Disciplinary and Conflict Management.
+ Promotion of Health and safety and strong team cultures.
+ Form Part of the Escalation chain for any unforeseen incidents and site issues, in and out of hours providing technical support and leadership.
+ Undertake other tasks, as required by the Technical Manager, in accordance with experience and competencies.
**Key Accountabilities & Deliverables:**
+ 100% Statutory compliance across all relevant service lines.
+ Work closely with Contract Support & Engineering Supervisor to ensure there are no gaps in service delivery.
+ Manage service line tracker documents to ensure actions are closed in a timely and cost‐effective manner.
+ No statutory compliance PPMs are missed as a result of CBRE planning.
+ Produce monthly reports in‐line with contract governance scorecard requirements.
+ Manage CMMS system.
+ Responsible for the Health and Safety of Engineers, contractors and Visitors to Site.
+ Responsible for the fast and effective procurement of materials and services.
+ Financial Management
+ Full ownership of P&L, Debt and WIP.
+ Responsible for ensuring Engineers have the correct Onboarding, Tools, PPE.
+ Responsible for ensuring appropriate contract review, audit and control systems to ensure statutory, policy and contractual commitments are met.
+ Internal Audits of QHSE, Compliance, Technical Literature.
+ Responsible for ensuring QHSE bulletins, safety talks and updates are delivered and implemented.
+ Accountable for auditing Logbooks for site.
+ Lead cultural change on a daily basis, through being an effective role model for safe working practices,
+ compliance, quality standards and best practice methods.
+ Positive contribution to the "team" effort, with a "can do" attitude and raising of standards.
**Selection criteria:**
+ Strong Data Centre Engineering Background Required
+ Financial Experience preferred.
+ Compliance Experience Required.
+ Strong customer focus, promotes team spirit, boosts morale and who subscribes to the Company RISE values.
+ Self‐motivated, reliable, and professional, attention to detail
+ Strong communication skills
+ Competent working knowledge of Microsoft packages (e.g. Excel, Word).

About the role


We are currently recruiting for a multi-skilled or electrically biased  Maintenance Technicians  to the join the Engineering Team at our Portbury production facility in Bristol.  The facility is a dried blending and mixing production facility where we create flavour blends for some of the world's best loved brands, 100's of tonnes of product are precisely measured, mixed and packaged every week.

This is a permanent position, with a 3 or 4 shift pattern – AM/PM/Nights/Days


Key Responsibilities


As a Maintenance Technician you will be responsible for:
 

  • Complying with the health and safety policy and regulations. 
  • Resolving breakdowns, carryout PM’s and work on project / improvement works with a view to minimizing production downtime.
  • Carrying out risk assessments with the relevant people and put controls in place to minimise the risk to acceptable levels where reasonably practicable.
  • Lock off any dangerous machinery immediately/ or repair and notify.
  • Actively seek to undertake PMs on offline machinery where time allows.
  • Fully complete PM sheets with all observations, jobs completed and recommendations and file with the Maintenance Planner, whilst always looking at ways of improving to PMs.
  • Actively gain as much information as possible from production personnel regarding the fault on the machine to speed up the fault-finding process.
  • Ensure engineering log and computer systems are fully filled in with all relevant information including PM numbers, all used parts, plant numbers, urgency of required parts, at the end of each shift. 
  • Ensure all communications with external persons are conducted in a professional manner which reflects the company profile.

Qualifications, skills and experience


To be successful in this role we are looking for the right behaviours and competencies as well as a proven track in a similar position.  The ideal candidate will ideally have the following:
 

  • HNC, City & Guilds or time served apprentice with appropriate electrical engineering qualifications.
  • Experience within a similar role ideally gained within a food manufacturing environment, if not food, experience within any manufacturing environment is highly desirable.
  • Electrically or biased, or multi-skilled.  PLC experience highly desirable.
  • Hydraulic and Pneumatic systems experience highly desirable
  • Flexible approach with a positive 'can-do' attitude.
  • Experience of SAP highly desirable.
