Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the acquisition, processing, and interpretation of remote sensing data (e.g., satellite imagery, LiDAR) for geological mapping and target generation.
- Integrate multi-disciplinary exploration datasets, including geophysical surveys, geochemical data, and geological models, to identify areas of high mineral potential.
- Develop and apply advanced data analysis techniques, including machine learning and AI, to enhance mineral prospectivity mapping.
- Design and manage exploration programs, focusing on data-driven targeting and efficient field validation.
- Conduct detailed geological reviews and risk assessments for potential exploration projects.
- Collaborate with in-house and external geoscientists, geochemists, and data scientists to ensure comprehensive data interpretation.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and recommendations for senior management and exploration teams.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in remote sensing technology, geological modelling software, and exploration methodologies.
- Mentor junior geologists and contribute to the development of best practices within the exploration department.
- Ensure all geological interpretations and data management practices adhere to industry standards and company protocols.
- MSc or PhD in Geology, Geophysics, or a related Earth Science discipline.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in mineral exploration, with a significant focus on remote sensing data interpretation and geological data integration.
- Proficiency with remote sensing software (e.g., ENVI, ERDAS Imagine) and GIS platforms (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS).
- Strong understanding of spectral geology, mineral identification, and geological mapping techniques.
- Experience with geophysical data interpretation (e.g., magnetics, gravity, electromagnetics) is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability in advanced data analysis, statistical modelling, and ideally, experience with Python or R for data science applications.
- Excellent understanding of geological principles and exploration models for various commodities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information effectively.
- Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a remote setting.
- Familiarity with mining industry operations and exploration project lifecycles.
