As a Shift Engineer working for the Data Centre Solutions team, your duties may include:
Responsibilities:
- To ensure site Electrical systems are operated and maintained to the required codes of practice and industry guidelines.
- Ensure the PPM’s for the as built equipment is fully maintained and carried out in a high calibre and on time.
- To carry out day-to-day maintenance and reactive issues relating to all the electrical equipment and assets.
- Complete information and feed back to computer based systems particularly the PPM system.
- Carry out fault identification/rectification and escalation when required on heating, ventilation and air conditioning issues.
- Installation and modification of site electrical services.
- Maintain effective communication to the Shift Supervisor including plant status, plant isolation, issues arising, ongoing works and standards of housekeeping.
- Ensure any parts required are clearly and accurately stated and any difficulties encountered on engineering activities are reported to the Shift Supervisor.
- Plant areas, workshops, stores, changing/rest areas etc. are kept to the highest level of housekeeping
- Operation and trouble shooting for the following:
- Building Electrical Installation (associated panels, equipment, and circuits).
- Emergency lighting.
- Lighting Control system.
- Building Management Systems (BMS)
- Fire suppression and detection systems
- Air conditioning System, VAV, FCU’s and Split Systems.
- AHU’s, Variable speed drives.
- Heating system.
- Generators and controls.
- Single and three phase motors.
- UPS system and associated control systems.
- Operation of HV systems (training and familiarisation with this system will be made available).
Skills:
- Previous experience in Building Services industry
- C&G qualified or equivalent in an electrical services/maintenance.
- 18th Edition IEE: Wiring & Installation competent
- HV Approved Person
- Confined Space entry trained. (Where required)
- Recognised training or apprenticeship
- Strong communication skills and the ability to deal with all levels of staff.
- Demonstrate a good understanding and be technically competent in all building services, in particular UPS, generators, static switches, water treatment, refrigeration and air conditioning.
- Proactive in achieving the highest standard of operation.
- Demonstrate a willingness to attend on and off site training for plant and systems as they are installed. This may require nights away from home.
- Reliable and conscientious
- Individuals who can demonstrate commitment and technical competence; but do not meet all the requirements may be considered subject to client approval.

The purpose of our Engineering Technician is to support the Supervisor providing reactive and pre-planned maintenance services to building fabric and specific engineering services at various sites in accordance with laid down procedures and safe working practices.

+ To ensure effective communication with the client and management team is maintained at all times.

**Personal Experience/Qualifications/Skills**
+ Trained in a Technical discipline and having served an apprenticeship or equivalent. City & Guilds / NVQ level 3 or equivalent in BS7671:2008 Requirement for Electrical Installation (IEE Wiring Regulation 18th Edition).
+ Previous experience working within critical maintenance environment.
+ Ability to work with minimal supervision
+ Good Customer Service and communication skills.

**PERSONAL SPECIFICATION**
**Education:**

**Training:**

City & Guilds 236 parts 1 & 2 (or later) 17th Edition or equivalent qualification Up to date skills on building management systems, ACOP's, fire and environmental control, building control, and health and safety. Formal health and safety training IOSH, etc.
**Experience:**
Experience of mission critical facilities maintaining, but not limited to, UPS systems, BMS operation, emergency standby generators, testing of electrical systems. Comprehensive mechanical and electrical engineering experience, undertaking reactive and planned preventative maintenance. Sound understanding and experience of meeting health and safety obligations with regard to maintenance activities
Appointed HV/AP, with the ability to create switching plans

Good verbal communication skills Organised and with good written English skills
Good Computer skills are a necessity as there are number of reports that are required to be sent to CBRE personnel and the client, as well as logging PPM's, work reports and incidences on the client's system. To be able to demonstrate a good use of excel, word and outlook.
Ability to learn, and develop both technical knowledge, and understanding or local organisational systems and processes.

**The role: Shift Technician**
The purpose of our Engineering Technician is to support the Supervisor providing reactive and pre-planned maintenance services to building fabric and specific engineering services at various sites in accordance with laid down procedures and safe working practices.
Key responsibilities are as follows:
* Delivery of the physical workplace experience in a single or multiple customer locations
* Delivering our service commitments, maintaining high standards of HSE and a secure workplace, control cost, drive service improvement activity and improve customer satisfaction.
* Building and sustaining effective relationships within the customer organisation
* Ensure compliance with all processes and procedures, statutory requirements, engineering standards and Health & Safety systems are followed.
* Provide a planned and reactive maintenance service as instructed, ensuring that operational standards, process and procedures are followed. This includes general building fabric and plumbing related tasks as required. Electrical and mechanical, fix, repair or install. Faultfinding. Tasks checks, site walkarounds, monitoring, meet KPIs.
* Supports the Project team and Facilities Services Manager
* Complete suitable risk assessments prior to undertaking work and complete the appropriate documentation in full.
* Record and report any risk, loss or defect to management for corrective action.
* Ensure Site Activity Log Books are completed in a timely and accurate manner and are maintained in accordance with procedures
* Participate in an Emergency Call Out Service as required in accordance with the Out of Hours Rota
* Supports the development of other colleagues, including Facilities Technicians, cross skilling colleagues and apprentices.
* The colleague must understand their environmental responsibilities and follow the CBRE environmental policy, procedures and routines to support the business in achieving its environmental objectives.
**Person Specification:**
* Able to demonstrate competence in the required tasks typically undertaken within building fabric, including plastering, joinery, glazing, plumbing and decorating, as identified on the fabric competency matrix
* Able to organise a small team of individuals to undertake projects, including managing and overseeing the work of Facilities Technicians
* Fully conversant with all relevant HSE requirements and their effective application
* Diligent, with an eye for quality and attention to detail, acting with a sense of urgency to put things right for customers
* The ability to constructively challenge established thinking and implement new practices or approaches for the benefit of customers and CBRE
* Essential - proven experience in a building trade as electrical, mechanical, and HVAC.
* Essential - Appropriate knowledge of Health and Safety and environmental requirements related to delivery of the assigned tasks, including manual handling awareness, legionella awareness, asbestos awareness, roof working
