**The role: Shift Technician**
The purpose of our Engineering Technician is to support the Supervisor providing reactive and pre-planned maintenance services to building fabric and specific engineering services at various sites in accordance with laid down procedures and safe working practices.
Key responsibilities are as follows:
* Delivery of the physical workplace experience in a single or multiple customer locations
* Delivering our service commitments, maintaining high standards of HSE and a secure workplace, control cost, drive service improvement activity and improve customer satisfaction.
* Building and sustaining effective relationships within the customer organisation
* Ensure compliance with all processes and procedures, statutory requirements, engineering standards and Health & Safety systems are followed.
* Provide a planned and reactive maintenance service as instructed, ensuring that operational standards, process and procedures are followed. This includes general building fabric and plumbing related tasks as required. Electrical and mechanical, fix, repair or install. Faultfinding. Tasks checks, site walkarounds, monitoring, meet KPIs.
* Supports the Project team and Facilities Services Manager

* Record and report any risk, loss or defect to management for corrective action.
* Ensure Site Activity Log Books are completed in a timely and accurate manner and are maintained in accordance with procedures
* Participate in an Emergency Call Out Service as required in accordance with the Out of Hours Rota

**Person Specification:**
* Able to demonstrate competence in the required tasks typically undertaken within building fabric, including plastering, joinery, glazing, plumbing and decorating, as identified on the fabric competency matrix
* Able to organise a small team of individuals to undertake projects, including managing and overseeing the work of Facilities Technicians
* Fully conversant with all relevant HSE requirements and their effective application

**Key responsibilities include:**

The successful candidate will also be responsible for conducting planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and responding to reactive maintenance requirements, maintaining accurate records of all work performed and any remedial actions taken, and collaborating effectively with site management and other trades to ensure seamless operations.
+ The ideal candidate will possess recognized electrical qualifications, such as NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent, along with a City & Guilds 2391 Inspection and Testing qualification.
+ Proven experience working as an electrician within a commercial environment is essential, along with strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.

**Multi-Skilled Data Centre Technician**

**Position Concept**
CBRE Global Workplace Solutions is a leading global provider of integrated facilities and corporate real estate management. We are now recruiting for an intermediate Multi Skilled Data Centre Technician to join the team located in one of our largest DC clients at their London Docklands site. CBRE manages the maintenance of our client's property portfolio and is committed to the provision of an efficient and effective engineering maintenance function which is deemed critical to the operations and the maintenance of 99.995% uptime.
The successful candidate will be expected to have an Intermediate understanding of electrical infrastructure and be willing to learn and evolves their skills to include all aspects of disciplines required to run a data centre including smart hands & remote hand working directly with and in connection to the data IT infrastructure. As a key member of the multi-disciplined engineering team, you will be responsible for the inspection, operation and maintenance of all associated assets within the Data Centre, with a focus on Planned, Reactive and Corrective maintenance and projects.
**Keys Tasks**
+ Interacte & operate electrical & electronic systems within the Data Centre in a competent, effective and efficient manner (including Electrical isolations/operations). Having due regard to business risk and energy use.
+ Making recommendations for improvement and providing concise technical reports when required.
+ Working closely with the Data Centre Day & Shift teams to ensure all Specialist Sub Contractors' are conducting works in line with approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), methods of Procedures (MOPs), Permit to Works (PTW) and client change requests.
+ To provide backup as engineering relief/cover in the event of annual leave, training or other absences within the engineering and Information, Communications and Technology (ICT) teams. Interact and assist with maintaining systems including air conditioning systems, DFUs, FCUs, AHUs, ACUs and other systems such as but not limited to lighting control systems, emergency lighting, and single-phase and three-phase motors whilst accurately reporting all completed work orders, including precise recording of any critical spares/stock items used during these tasks. Working alongside the ICT engineers you will be participating in the rebooting of servers, routers or other IT-related equipment, observing, describing & reporting on indicator lights or display information, physically moving equipment within our clients and customers' spaces including tape/media rotation, investigating power issues in an equipment rack, cabling installation with repair and replacement of end connectors, cable patching, circuit acceptance testing and fault finding.
+ Actively participate in weekly team meetings, and client meetings, in conjunction with CBRE management. Working with QHSE compliance activities, such as hazard, near-miss & observation reporting, e-learning and regular Toolbox Talks.
+ Evaluate and escalate any potential risks, with an assessment of impact, probable causes and mitigation opportunities and actively contribute to continuous improvement of safe systems of work, ensuring compliance with relevant QHSE policy and procedures.
+ To learn and understand our client's permitting system (training will be provided where required), operate, and eventually take part in the administration of the Permit to Work (PTW) processes & systems.
**Personal Attributes**
+ A strong and committed team player who is capable of prioritising and solving problems often under pressure, utilising innovative solutions. Must be well organised with good task management skills, can communicate effectively (written & verbal) and be able to operate independently.
+ Self-motivated, resourceful with good administrative skills and the Ability to be flexible and learn new tools and techniques with the ability to follow established procedures, with good planning including prioritization of tasks.
+ Presentable appearance and a meticulous worker paying attention to detail with the ability to work under pressure remaining proactive and positive in approach and outlook.
+ Must have a high level of Integrity, honesty and punctuality and demonstrate pro-activity, diligence and alertness, with the willingness to participate in appropriate training schemes.
+ Education (Essential) Recognised qualification to a minimum City & Guilds level 2, BTEC, ONC or HNC level for Electrical/Mechanical engineering or equivalent discipline
+ Computer literate, with good IT & report writing skills, proficient with Microsoft Office Systems (Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint
+ Education (Desirable)
+ Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) Managing Safely Certificate or National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH) General Certificate.
+ General Desirables Comprehension of the core CBRE RISE values Availability to work outside of normal working hours and at weekends where required.

**About the Role:**
As a CBRE Data Centre Technician, you will perform preventative maintenance and corrective repairs within a Data Centre operation.
This job is part of the Critical and Technical Services job function. They are responsible for technical maintenance services in critical client environments.
**What You'll Do:**
+ Assist with daily site inspections of all Mechanical & Engineering systems and technical equipment, including servicing and maintenance.
+ Ensure the site's environmental conditions provide a safe work environment.
+ React to Building Management System alarms, and complete emergency repairs as needed.
+ Work with third-party vendors, ensuring compliance with company-developed processes, procedures, and all applicable laws and regulations.
+ Alert management if subcontractor performance doesn't meet all requirements per the Master Service Agreement.
+ Complete planned preventative maintenance (PM) and reactive maintenance on all equipment.
+ Check BMS for running and alarm conditions and respond to HVAC-related client problems.
+ Building walkthroughs, taking meter readings from UPS, PDU's and utilities.
+ Provide fixes to facility and plant faults and defects.
+ Complete assigned work according to established processes and procedures. Follow all safety processes and requirements and ensure all regulatory requirements and quality standards are met. Conduct routine quality checks for comprehensive maintenance records.
+ Complete all required training to ensure successful completion of all job-related responsibilities.
+ Use existing procedures to solve straightforward problems while having a limited opportunity to exercise discretion.
+ Impact through clearly defined duties, methods, and tasks are described in detail.
+ Deliver own output by following defined procedures and processes under close supervision and guidance.
**What You'll Need:**
+ Training in a Technical discipline having served an apprenticeship or equivalent with 1-2 years of job-related experience. In lieu of a diploma, a combination of experience and education will be considered. Ability to work shifts that may include weekends and holidays
+ Must be able to Meet the physical requirements of this role.
+ To effectively present information to an internal department, client, management and/or colleagues.
+ Ability to follow basic work routines and standards in the application of work.
+ Communication skills to exchange straightforward information.

We would like to invite Shift Engineers who have experience working within a Critical Environment or Engineers who are looking to move into Critical Environments, to join our talent pool for both current and future opportunities.
As a Shift Engineer working for the Data Centre Solutions team, your duties may include:
**Responsibilities:**
+ To ensure site Electrical systems are operated and maintained to the required codes of practice and industry guidelines.
+ Ensure the PPM's for the as built equipment is fully maintained and carried out in a high calibre and on time.
+ To carry out day-to-day maintenance and reactive issues relating to all the electrical equipment and assets.
+ Complete information and feed back to computer based systems particularly the PPM system.
+ Carry out fault identification/rectification and escalation when required on heating, ventilation and air conditioning issues.
+ Installation and modification of site electrical services.
+ Maintain effective communication to the Shift Supervisor including plant status, plant isolation, issues arising, ongoing works and standards of housekeeping.
+ Ensure any parts required are clearly and accurately stated and any difficulties encountered on engineering activities are reported to the Shift Supervisor.
+ Plant areas, workshops, stores, changing/rest areas etc. are kept to the highest level of housekeeping
+ Operation and trouble shooting for the following:
+ Building Electrical Installation (associated panels, equipment, and circuits).
+ Emergency lighting.
+ Lighting Control system.
+ Building Management Systems (BMS)
+ Fire suppression and detection systems
+ Air conditioning System, VAV, FCU's and Split Systems.
+ AHU's, Variable speed drives.
+ Heating system.
+ Generators and controls.
+ Single and three phase motors.
+ UPS system and associated control systems.
+ Operation of HV systems (training and familiarisation with this system will be made available).
**Skills:**
+ Previous experience in Building Services industry
+ C&G qualified or equivalent in an electrical services/maintenance.
+ 18th Edition IEE: Wiring & Installation competent
+ HV Approved Person
+ Confined Space entry trained. (Where required)
+ Recognised training or apprenticeship
+ Strong communication skills and the ability to deal with all levels of staff.
+ Demonstrate a good understanding and be technically competent in all building services, in particular UPS, generators, static switches, water treatment, refrigeration and air conditioning.
+ Proactive in achieving the highest standard of operation.
+ Demonstrate a willingness to attend on and off site training for plant and systems as they are installed. This may require nights away from home.
+ Reliable and conscientious
+ Individuals who can demonstrate commitment and technical competence; but do not meet all the requirements may be considered subject to client approval.
+ Advanced communication skills with a full understanding of customer needs & expectations
+ Ability to comprehend and act upon both verbal and written instructions
+ Enthusiasm and demonstration of pro-activity, diligence and alertness, with the willingness to participate in appropriate training schemes
+ Integrity, honesty and punctuality is also expected
