**The role: Shift Technician**
The purpose of our Engineering Technician is to support the Supervisor providing reactive and pre-planned maintenance services to building fabric and specific engineering services at various sites in accordance with laid down procedures and safe working practices.

**Job Title: Data Centre Technician**

**Purpose of the job**
+ To deliver service support within site team at client's data centre/s.
+ To carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance, ad-hoc and reactive tasks, escorting and controlling sub-contractors to all M&E services.
+ To take a pro-active role in identifying any issues which need to be escalated to the M&E manager.
+ To escalate any site emergencies following agreed procedures
+ In addition, the role may require:
+ Small installation works, repairs to building fabric, and handyman duties.
**Key Responsibilities**
+ Resolve and complete day to day work orders to meet customer satisfaction targets and delivered in time frame requirement in line with the SLA's
+ Maintain up to date log of work completed and outstanding items through Mainstream SI-7 CMMS system
+ Qualify and act as an appointed Authorised Person (AP) within 6 months from on-boarding.
+ Carry out isolations and re-instatement of Electrical, Gas, Fire Alarms and Sprinkler systems when required and where authorised
+ Issue permits for access, maintenance, service and project activities on location as required
+ Ensure that all contractors and CBRE staff comply with all CBRE and Client safety and security requirements.
+ To participate in the critical services training programme.
+ To ensure effective communication with the client and management team is maintained at all times.
+ Operate as a team with other technicians by sharing expertise and experience to help resolve operational problems.
+ Provide holiday, training & sickness cover for other members of the shift team.
+ Tracking and Completion of Critical Services Planned Preventative Maintenance. Effectively maintain and report on the critical services & environmental monitoring.
+ Provide condition assessments of plant and equipment.
+ Log and action all out of line situations with incident reports to include remedial action taken.
+ Update reports, documentation and infrastructure mapping, as required.
+ Ensure that all contractors and CBRE staff comply with all statutory, CBRE/Client safety and security requirements.
+ Ensure work quality of 3rd party specialist contractors and action/implement any report recommendations.
+ Ensure there is follow through between normal technical tasks and additional/project works.
+ Assist in preparing quotations for extra technical works. Source supplies, materials and labour to carry out work cost effectively and efficiently.
+ Effective communication with the client and management team is maintained at all times, e.g. Incident reports, Handover documents etc.
+ To ensure all requirements are met within client SLA (Service Level Agreement) and Data Centre DOU (Document of Understanding) and adhere to the standard CBRE/Client Processes
**Personal Experience/Qualifications/Skills**
+ Trained in a Technical discipline and having served an apprenticeship or equivalent. City & Guilds / NVQ level 3 or equivalent in BS7671:2008 Requirement for Electrical Installation (IEE Wiring Regulation 18th Edition).
+ Previous experience working within critical maintenance environment.
+ Ability to work with minimal supervision
+ Good Customer Service and communication skills.
+ Flexible approach to work; good team worker.
+ Willing to learn and develop own skills.
+ Good understanding of permit to work systems and H&S requirements.
+ Ability to participate in mixed-skill teams to meet targets and standards
+ Ability to understand technical drawings.
+ Understanding of power provisioning, PDU's and environmental monitoring.
+ Good Customer Service along with good communication skills, both written and verbal
+ Flexible approach to work. Willing to learn and develop own skills and work on own initiative.
+ Basic PC literacy and ability to interrogate database systems would be desirable. Training will be provided on all site-based systems.

**Accountabilities**
+ Accountable to Contract Manager and Site Supervisor.
+ The post holder does not have any directly reporting staff.
+ This post carries no direct budgetary responsibility.
+ Accountable for maintaining appropriate stocks of spares and consumables and ensuring their secure storage and controlled issue.
**PERSONAL SPECIFICATION**
**Education:**
A good basic education is essential, with good written and spoken English and basic Mathematics skills.
**Training:**
The engineer must be formally trained in mechanical and electrical services maintenance. City & Guilds 236 parts 1 & 2 (or later) 17th Edition or equivalent qualification Up to date skills on building management systems, ACOP's, fire and environmental control, building control, and health and safety. Formal health and safety training IOSH, etc.
**Experience:**
Experience of mission critical facilities maintaining, but not limited to, UPS systems, BMS operation, emergency standby generators, testing of electrical systems. Comprehensive mechanical and electrical engineering experience, undertaking reactive and planned preventative maintenance. Sound understanding and experience of meeting health and safety obligations with regard to maintenance activities
Appointed HV/AP, with the ability to create switching plans
**Aptitudes:**
Good verbal communication skills Organised and with good written English skills
Good Computer skills are a necessity as there are number of reports that are required to be sent to CBRE personnel and the client, as well as logging PPM's, work reports and incidences on the client's system. To be able to demonstrate a good use of excel, word and outlook.
Ability to learn, and develop both technical knowledge, and understanding or local organisational systems and processes.
Committed to the delivery of excellent customer service.

+ Able to make sound decisions when needed.
+ Physically fit and able to carry tools and components by hand up to 20kg.
+ Able to ascend and descend vertical access equipment.

We are now recruiting for an intermediate Multi Skilled Data Centre Technician to join the team located in one of our largest DC clients at their London Docklands site. CBRE manages the maintenance of our client's property portfolio and is committed to the provision of an efficient and effective engineering maintenance function which is deemed critical to the operations and the maintenance of 99.995% uptime.
The successful candidate will be expected to have an Intermediate understanding of electrical infrastructure and be willing to learn and evolves their skills to include all aspects of disciplines required to run a data centre including smart hands & remote hand working directly with and in connection to the data IT infrastructure. As a key member of the multi-disciplined engineering team, you will be responsible for the inspection, operation and maintenance of all associated assets within the Data Centre, with a focus on Planned, Reactive and Corrective maintenance and projects.
**Keys Tasks**
+ Interacte & operate electrical & electronic systems within the Data Centre in a competent, effective and efficient manner (including Electrical isolations/operations). Having due regard to business risk and energy use.
+ Making recommendations for improvement and providing concise technical reports when required.
+ Working closely with the Data Centre Day & Shift teams to ensure all Specialist Sub Contractors' are conducting works in line with approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), methods of Procedures (MOPs), Permit to Works (PTW) and client change requests.
+ To provide backup as engineering relief/cover in the event of annual leave, training or other absences within the engineering and Information, Communications and Technology (ICT) teams. Interact and assist with maintaining systems including air conditioning systems, DFUs, FCUs, AHUs, ACUs and other systems such as but not limited to lighting control systems, emergency lighting, and single-phase and three-phase motors whilst accurately reporting all completed work orders, including precise recording of any critical spares/stock items used during these tasks. Working alongside the ICT engineers you will be participating in the rebooting of servers, routers or other IT-related equipment, observing, describing & reporting on indicator lights or display information, physically moving equipment within our clients and customers' spaces including tape/media rotation, investigating power issues in an equipment rack, cabling installation with repair and replacement of end connectors, cable patching, circuit acceptance testing and fault finding.
+ Actively participate in weekly team meetings, and client meetings, in conjunction with CBRE management. Working with QHSE compliance activities, such as hazard, near-miss & observation reporting, e-learning and regular Toolbox Talks.
+ Evaluate and escalate any potential risks, with an assessment of impact, probable causes and mitigation opportunities and actively contribute to continuous improvement of safe systems of work, ensuring compliance with relevant QHSE policy and procedures.
+ To learn and understand our client's permitting system (training will be provided where required), operate, and eventually take part in the administration of the Permit to Work (PTW) processes & systems.

**About the Role:**
As a CBRE Data Centre Technician, you will perform preventative maintenance and corrective repairs within a Data Centre operation.
This job is part of the Critical and Technical Services job function. They are responsible for technical maintenance services in critical client environments.
**What You'll Do:**
+ Assist with daily site inspections of all Mechanical & Engineering systems and technical equipment, including servicing and maintenance.
+ Ensure the site's environmental conditions provide a safe work environment.
+ React to Building Management System alarms, and complete emergency repairs as needed.
+ Work with third-party vendors, ensuring compliance with company-developed processes, procedures, and all applicable laws and regulations.
+ Alert management if subcontractor performance doesn't meet all requirements per the Master Service Agreement.
+ Complete planned preventative maintenance (PM) and reactive maintenance on all equipment.
+ Check BMS for running and alarm conditions and respond to HVAC-related client problems.
+ Building walkthroughs, taking meter readings from UPS, PDU's and utilities.
+ Provide fixes to facility and plant faults and defects.
+ Complete assigned work according to established processes and procedures. Follow all safety processes and requirements and ensure all regulatory requirements and quality standards are met. Conduct routine quality checks for comprehensive maintenance records.
+ Complete all required training to ensure successful completion of all job-related responsibilities.
+ Use existing procedures to solve straightforward problems while having a limited opportunity to exercise discretion.
+ Impact through clearly defined duties, methods, and tasks are described in detail.
+ Deliver own output by following defined procedures and processes under close supervision and guidance.
