Job Description

Avanade is looking for an experienced Data Security Architect to join our security practice. This is a client-facing role where you will be engaged in some of the most exciting, complex, and leading-edge projects. You will play an active role in transforming our client's Information Protection strategy, capabilities, and operations through the design and implementation of predominantly Microsoft Threat Protection technologies. You will also be part of the Avanade Security presales and Architecture function, creating proposals and solutions for our largest, most complex enterprise clients. This role will include partial delivery expectations for the year.
About the Role:
In this role, you will:
- Lead large projects and project teams.
- Manage deliverables and be responsible for delivering against critical milestones.
- Engage in solution architecture and pre-sales deal shaping.
- Develop and maintain long-term strategic client relationships.
- Lead the implementation and management of Microsoft Purview for data discovery, classification, sensitivity labelling, and retention policies
- Drive DSPM strategy to ensure AI models, pipelines, and infrastructure meet enterprise data protection and compliance requirements
- Design and enforce DSPM (Data Security Posture Management) frameworks tailored for AI-driven data infrastructure
- Define and monitor KPIs for data discovery, classification, and protection coverage
- Implementing DSPM solutions to discover, classify, and secure data across AI pipelines
- Integration of data classification and retention policies within AI lifecycle
- Develop Response plans for data breach and exfiltration response tailored to AI environments. Forensic tracing of AI usage and auditability of input data
- Integrate Purview alerts and telemetry with Microsoft Defender and Sentinel to enable real-time threat detection and incident correlation.
- Oversee configuration of E5 security tools, including Microsoft Information Protection, Data Loss Prevention, and Insider Risk Management
- Stay current with evolving data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA, NIST AI RMF) and recommend policy updates accordingly
- Develop high-level documentation and executive reports on data security posture, risk exposures, and improvement roadmaps.
- Additional experience with Entra suite, M365 and Defender is not mandatory but valuable.
Your responsibilities may include :
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with the account teams and client stakeholders
- Identify customer needs and understand business goals to envisage a high-level solution and winning strategy.
- Develop detailed security transformation and operations opportunities based on the capabilities, standardised tools, processes and partner technology with the security architects and other technology partners.
- Drive and be involved in the proposal, solution presentations and discussions.
- Conduct and follow through the sales process to accomplish deal closure.
Requirements:
- Advanced Microsoft Security Certifications such as: SC-100, SC-200, SC-401, AI-900
- Industry-recognised certifications such as: CISSP, CCSP, CISM, GIAC
- In-depth Knowledge of Azure Security Tools: Have a key in-depth Experience implementing Purview, and Purview DSPM strategies for AI models or hybrid data platforms.
- Security Architecture Design: Design and implement robust security architectures for cloud-based applications and services. Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.
- RFP Responses: Prepare and review responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) related to cloud security. Ensure that all security requirements are addressed and communicated to potential clients.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on the latest security trends, technologies, and threats. Continuously improve security processes and tools to enhance the overall security posture.
- Strong knowledge of Azure Security tools and experience with compliance frameworks (e.g., GDPR, NIST AI RMF, ISO 27001, SOC 2).
- Familiarity with industry standards and best practices for cloud security.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to lead RFP responses related to cloud security and Managed Security Services.
- Beneficial Knowledge: Familiarity with the Defender suite of products, including Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, Microsoft Defender for Identity, Microsoft Defender for Office 365, and Microsoft Cloud App Security.
Beneficial Knowledge:
- Understanding of how AI/ML models handle training data, inference data, and derived data.
- Experience with case management workflows and insider threat response protocols.

The role

Our client, a global consumer finance platform, is receiving sensitive data from third party sources i.e. medical information, credit scores, other data-driven insights, via APIs .


This data needs to be securely extracted, stored, encrypted, secured, classified , with appropriate access controls and sensitivity labels applied.


You will be responsible for ensuring the data security , including encryption and key management. The data will primarily be for the US market, so knowledge of HIPPA or HITRUST is fantastic. However, experience with GDPR and ISO 27001 is also ok.


Non-Negotiables

  • BigQuery in-depth use
  • Data security principles and cloud compliance experience
  • Encryption (KMS) , secrets management , and IAM/RBAC experience.


Core Focus Areas

  • Data security and encryption across the Cloud, ensuring sensitive third-party data is encrypted, classified, and labelled appropriately.
  • Configure IAM roles,
  • Role-based access controls (RBAC).
  • Segregation of duties to enforce secure, system-level access.
  • Symmetric or asymmetric encryption.
  • Enforce & maintain regulatory compliance under HIPAA compliance standards (US). Prior HIPPA experience is not required – you can read up on this.
  • Support security audits, logging, and monitoring to provide compliance evidence.
  • Advise on best practice data handling policies and procedures.

THE ROLE

We are seeking a Data Governance Manager to lead and evolve our data governance strategy across NextEnergy Group as we transition to a new cloud data platform. This role will be pivotal in ensuring data integrity, compliance, and accessibility across our business units, enabling high-quality decision-making and supporting our mission to lead the transition to clean energy.

You will work closely with stakeholders across all business units, Legal & the Technology & Digital Services function to embed best practices and drive a culture of data stewardship.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and implement an updated data governance framework aligned with business objectives and regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate activities such as data quality assessments, data cataloguing, data lineage, data stewardship & data ethics
  • Partner with Legal and Compliance teams to ensure GDPR and other regulatory adherence, including overseeing the completion of DPIAs
  • Establish Data Owner roles across the organization and consequently act as a trusted advisor to them, being approachable and pragmatic to ensure that all risks related to data are raised & dealt with quickly
  • Work with various business stakeholders to understand their business requirements and consequent data needs, applying these to our data governance framework identifying risks & challenges
  • Monitor & report on the performance and compliance of data governance policies & metrics to identify & resolve any gaps or issues

They are looking for a Information Governance Lead to join the EMEA Data Management Group on an initial 6 month contract. You will be working Monday to Friday, standard office hours with the occasional out of hours requirement in line with business needs.


Purpose of Job

The Information Governance Lead is a critical role within the data office and wider Group. You will leverage your knowledge and expertise to lead Information Governance support and services. The role will interface with the SMEs across the organisation and work with the Director of Information Governance to deliver the IG strategy aligned to the bank’s business strategy and core Business As Usual workstreams

Aligned to the strategy and business priorities, this role will work closely with teams across the EMEA Data Office, IT, Legal, Compliance and Change Management functions to shape IG for EMEA. The role will support the breadth of BAU and project work across the Information Governance Team, with specific responsibilities for providing data privacy, records management and data classification expertise. The role also requires an ability to educate and convince stakeholders at all levels on the essential nature of this role, as well as a clear understanding and articulation of the need for IG controls and the benefits they bring.

You must be willing to challenge the status quo in an empathic manner, while helping the wider Data Office team to have an ethos of openness and transparency that will help us nurture real business innovation.


Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • Advise the business on IG management enquiries
  • Review and advise the business on the completion of Privacy Risk Assessments and the implementation of mitigating measures
  • Lead on the annual and ongoing review and revisions of documentation including policies and privacy notices
  • Lead or participate in information governance-related projects which include data classification and records management capabilities
  • Conduct IG horizon-scanning for emerging issues and gap analyses
