About the job you're considering

We are looking for an experienced and highly skilled Data Architect to join our Design Authority Team to determine and advance the technology deployed within CIS Managed Services.  As our Data Intelligence Platform Architect, you will oversee our Data Intelligence Platform built on Databricks.

You will be responsible for defining the vision, strategy, data architecture, and the solution design of our data platform, ensuring scalability, data security and alignment with business objectives and driving innovation through the adoption of emerging technologies. This is a senior leadership role that requires strong expertise in Data architecture, business acumen, and excellent communication skills.

Hybrid working: The places that you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of Company offices, client sites, and your home; noting that you will be unable to work at home 100% of the time.

Your role

  • Define a data architecture and strategy for a scalable, performant and secure Data Platform to operate cloud and hybrid services.
  • Define data standards, governance frameworks and integration patterns that align the architecture to Cloud Infrastructure Services business objectives.
  • Lead the design, development, and deployment of enhancements and backlog items for the Data Intelligence Platform on Databricks, including data architecture, data ingestion, data engineering, machine learning/AI, data visualization and analytics.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Operations, Transformation/Industrialization, Delivery, and Shared Services stakeholders to ensure seamless integration, relevance, and adoption of the platform.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the organization's data landscape, including data governance, quality, and security.
  • Stay up to date with emerging trends and technologies in data architecture, AI/ML, and cloud computing, and apply this knowledge to drive innovation and improvement in the platform.
  • Develop and manage the platform's technical roadmap, ensuring alignment with business objectives, Generative AI demands for data, and industry trends.
  • Develop and deploy related client-facing services into our Enterprise Automation Fabric.
  • Develop the annual budget to support data platform priorities for the coming year.
  • Develop, submit, and defend enhancement project requests based on a researched and supported business case for securing your annual product investments.
  • Lead a team of architects, engineers, and data scientists to design, develop, and implement the platform's components, including data pipelines, data lakehouses, and analytics.
  • Ensure the platform's scalability, reliability, and performance, and develop strategies to optimize resource utilization and reduce costs.
  • Participate in and drive Vendor Onboarding when implementing new tools/technologies.
  • Develop and manage relationships with key stakeholders, including business leaders, data scientists, and engineers to ensure the platform meets business needs and expectations.

Your skills and responsibilities

  • Extensive experience in data architecture, warehousing, and engineering with a focus on large-scale data platforms and cloud computing.
  • Proven track record of designing and delivering data platforms on Databricks or similar platforms such as Snowflake, including experience with related technologies such as Apache Spark, PySpark, Delta Lake, and ETL tools.
  • Strong technical expertise in data architecture, data governance, data quality, and data security.
  • Excellent understanding of AI/ML technologies, including machine learning, deep learning, and generative AI.
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms, including AWS, Azure, and GCP.
