**The Team**
The Credit Data Modelling team sits at the core of our Fixed Income Data business, responsible for designing and maintaining the data models that underpin the discovery, integration, and analysis of credit-related datasets. The team's current focus is on corporate bonds within the wider credit space, with scope to expand into broader areas of the credit markets. The team partners closely with Product, Engineering, Ontologists, and Fixed Income subject matter experts to build scalable and interoperable data solutions that enable clients to navigate the complexity of credit markets with confidence.
**What's the Role?**
We're looking for a strong hands-on people leader to manage and grow the Credit Data Modelling team. In this role, you'll be responsible for leading a team of data modelling professionals who design, govern, and evolve the data structures supporting Bloomberg's credit data products. You'll coach and mentor team members, connecting day-to-day modelling tasks with our broader product strategy. You'll also provide hands-on guidance, lead technical discussions, and give direction and feedback to ICs in the team. Finally, you'll champion data governance, automation, and alignment with industry best practices to ensure the delivery of a robust and future-proof data model.
**We'll Trust You To:**
+ Lead and develop a high-performing team of data modelling professionals, setting clear goals and fostering a culture of feedback, growth, and accountability.
+ Translate product and business requirements into a coherent modelling vision that supports interoperability across datasets and delivery platforms, while proactively engaging stakeholders to promote best data modelling practices and demonstrate their benefits to our clients.
+ Design and lead credit-related data models and associated taxonomies, controlled vocabularies, and ontologies that conceptualize knowledge across multiple domains.
+ Partner with Product, Engineering, and SMEs to co-design data models that balance technical feasibility of legacy implementation with evolving client needs.
+ Maintain and govern credit-related data models and metadata: auditing and evolving models and fields, and defining/enforcing metadata standards, entity relationships, and schemas to ensure consistency, accuracy, discoverability, and client value.
+ Drive governance practices: communicate data governance requirements to stakeholders, embed robust governance processes, ensure adherence to FAIR principles, and align with Bloomberg's modelling standards.
+ Promote the practice of data modelling/ontology design and metadata management as part of the full data lifecycle across the wider Credit group, including driving workflow automation and tooling to increase scalability and resilience.
+ Communicate progress, priorities, and technical concepts clearly across both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
+ Influence decision makers across the firm to adopt certain perspectives and align to shared standards that improve client outcomes.
**You'll Need to Have:**
+ 3+ years of experience leading and developing high-performing teams, ideally within data management, modelling, or related fields.
+ Strong background in data modelling, metadata design, or semantic data structures.
+ Proven ability to work with complex, heterogeneous datasets and convert them into harmonized, queryable formats - for example, unifying disparate datasets into a single schema, normalizing multiple vendor feeds into a harmonized model, or developing pipelines that reconcile internal and external sources into queryable formats for analytics.
+ Strong communication skills, with experience influencing and driving alignment across cross-functional teams.
+ Technical fluency in working with data, with the ability to provide hands-on guidance, lead technical discussions, and advise on tradeoffs and best practices.
+ Experience collaborating with Product and Engineering teams to deliver impactful data solutions.
**We'd Love to See:**
+ Exposure to fixed income or financial datasets (especially within credit markets).
+ Familiarity with semantic web or knowledge graph concepts and their application in modelling.
+ Experience with data cataloging, metadata governance, or data discovery platforms.
+ Understanding of data governance frameworks or certifications (e.g., DAMA CDMP, DCAM).
+ Prior experience building scalable automation pipelines for data validation and model maintenance.

The opportunity is to join the London based ABS Trading desk focusing on the Whole Loan business. The primary activity of the Whole Loan business is acting as principal to purchase portfolios of individual assets where the underlying debtors are consumers or SMEs (residential and commercial mortgages, consumer loans, SME loans).

Whole Loan Trading role focuses on:

Job Responsibilities:
  • Detailed quantitative and analytical analysis and cash flow modelling, including ROE analysis
  • Review and refinement of processes, policies, and procedures. Identify and implement improvements to enhance the efficiency of the business
  • Analyze data, identifying trends, and resolving issues to improve performance
  • Contribute to business growth through portfolio acquisitions for existing and new products
  • Support Business development initiatives to explore new counterparty relationships, new ways of doing business, new asset types, new geographic markets and new legal structures

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
  • Understanding of how receivable portfolios perform including key risks and drivers of performance. Knowledge of the financial industry and debt capital markets, including clear understanding of technical concepts
  • Strong data and analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in data analytical tools (Excel, Alteryx) and familiarity with Intex. Ability to build the cashflow and securitization models for consumer assets
  • Ability to build rapport and maintain relationships with servicers and internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, concisely and thoughtfully with internal and external stakeholders including Senior Management, Investment Committee, Middle Office and internal control functions including LOB Legal, LOB compliance, Principal Risk etc.
  • Exceptional work ethic, as well as the ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines, whilst maintaining excellent attention to detail

About You
Essential:

•Hands-on implementation experience with tools like Purview, Collibra, Informatica, or Alation. 
•Solid SQL skills and familiarity with Azure, Fabric, or other cloud platforms.
•Knowledge of data privacy regulations (UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018) and ETL processes.

Desirable:
•Purview implementation experience.
•Certifications such as DAMA/CDMP.
•Experience in data remediation, migration, and quality improvement projects.
•Ability to work cross-functionally with IT, compliance, and business teams.

Meet the team

We are looking for a Data Management Specialist to join our Demonstration Data Management Group (DDX), based in the UK and supporting UK and Canadian data environments. In this role, you’ll collaborate with Managers and Leaders across Australia, the UK, the US, and Canada, contributing to the development and maintenance of high-quality demonstration data.

You’ll be responsible for creating, managing, and maintaining accurate, complete, and reliable data used to demonstrate LEAP to clients and internal teams. Training will be provided on the DDX Tool.

Working closely with colleagues, you’ll ensure data quality, accessibility, and integrity across all LEAP demonstration datasets, while supporting data governance and analysis activities.

Success in this role requires a hands-on, proactive approach and the ability to collaborate effectively with global stakeholders.

Requirements

What you'll do

  • Proactively liaising with various stakeholders to understand location specific data requirements.
  • Understanding the client’s data requirements and the ability to translate these requirements into functional. specifications for implementation and delivery.
  • Maintaining documentation, including training, delivery, and processes.
  • Preparing and delivering standard and custom training events via web conference tools, web meeting, or standard classroom methods in a one on one or group situation (including the ability to amend and revise programs as necessary, to adapt to changes occurring in the work environment).
  • Ability to investigate and resolve issues raised by departments that relate to LEAP data.
  • Support DDX Developers with issues escalated in the DDX Projects.

What you'll bring

  • Experience with LEAP is preferred, however, not essential.
  • Experience with datafile creations.
  • Experience creating matters, documents, time, cost recoveries, invoices, and receipts.
  • Ability to self-motivate and work autonomously.
  • Experience in creating technical documentation specifications.
  • Strong verbal and written skills.
  • Strong delivery focus to complete tasks within the schedule and quality standards.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, analysis skills, and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrable stakeholder management experience, with a proven ability to build positive relationships and engage people across all levels of the organisation.
  • Excellent written and verbal presentation skills, with experience in presenting to senior management.

Our Data teams work to collect, analyse, process, and publish the data which is the backbone of our iconic Bloomberg Terminal -- the data which ultimately moves the financial markets! We're responsible for delivering this data, news, and analytics through innovative technology -- quickly and accurately.
The Data Management Lab (DML) sits within the Data organization, supporting Data's pursuit of data management excellence by aligning industry best practices with Bloomberg's established expertise in financial market data. DML empowers our data professionals to make their products "ready-to-use" by promoting increased data discoverability, accessibility, appraisability, interoperability, and analysis-readiness.
As a Data Management Professional, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality data to our clients while driving impactful business decisions. You will be an integral member of a collaborative set of teams, Quality Methods & Insights under DML that includes Data Quality, Business Intelligence and Process Engineering serving as a centre of excellence for the rest of the teams in the Data organisation. A key aspect of this role involves leading initiatives to appraise and enhance the quality of our datasets, partnering closely with Data product and Engineering teams to champion effective solutions. Simultaneously, you will leverage your analytical expertise to support the development of scalable methods and tools for analysing product, process, and people data. The analytical insights will directly support data-driven decision-making aimed at achieving quality enhancements and process optimisation across the organization. You will also contribute to the ongoing refinement of data management best practices.
**As a valued member of our team, we'll trust you to:**
+ Lead global initiatives focused on data science applications within the realms of data quality, data product development, and operational efficiency
+ Design and run studies to uncover root causes of data quality issues, using techniques such as hypothesis testing, clustering, and regression analysis
+ Develop statistical models to detect data anomalies, predict quality issues, and optimize data manufacturing pipelines by leveraging appropriate methodologies
+ Deliver actionable insights through advanced analytics, and compelling data storytelling to support business decision making and innovation
+ Collaborate with data stakeholders and engineering partner to translate high-impact questions into scalable data science solutions
+ Build statistical and analytical capabilities within the team; mentor others in applying best practices in modelling and experimentation
**You'll need to have a strong combination of the following:**
_*Please note we use years of experience as a guide but we certainly will consider applications from all candidates who are able to demonstrate the skills necessary for the role._
+ A PhD or Master's degree in Data Science, Economics, Statistics or a related quantitative field
+ 3+ years' experience designing research studies as well as performing analysis such as data profiling, predictive modelling, and causal analysis
+ Strong coding skills ideally in Python and experience with SQL for data querying
+ Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and a collaborative development workflow (e.g., GitHub, GitLab)
+ Experience working in a data quality, data governance, or data management environment is a major plus (knowledge of DAMA, DCAM, etc. is welcome)
+ Excellent project management skills and the ability to communicate complex findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
+ Knowledge of financial markets and Bloomberg products is a plus
