About LawBite
At LawBite, we're making business law smarter. We're a technology business revolutionising the legal sector and helping thousands of entrepreneurs and business owners to start, grow and succeed. Through our online platform, we seamlessly connect businesses to top flight lawyers and provide expert legal advice at around 50% of the cost of most comparable law firms.
SMEs perceive accessing legal services as cumbersome, difficult to navigate, hard to understand and full of hidden charges. In fact, in the UK, research has shown that SMEs lose over £13 billion each year by failing to access the critical legal advice they require.
Our mission is to change this by making legal services easier to access and much more affordable. Our virtual platform uses the latest technology to streamline the lawyer-client experience – delivering a faster and more efficient service.
Consultancy opportunities
To support our growth and to continue to provide our clients with the expert legal advice we pride ourselves on, we’re seeking a Data Protection Lawyer with at least 8 years’ relevant PQE.
Our lawyers work as consultants for our regulated law firm, Lawbriefs Ltd, and have the freedom and flexibility to work when and wherever they want. In addition, we do not require our lawyers to have a client following, or carry out any business development themselves, as our clients come to us via our innovative online platform, which matches enquiries with lawyers with the right knowledge and legal expertise.
Our lawyers are paid an hourly rate in line with, or in excess of the current market rate, and are free to quote the client whatever they consider the right price for the work they’re being asked to do.
We also realise the value of the personal touch for our lawyers, both in terms of the need to feel part of something special and receiving practical support in managing their workload and files.
Our central office is in London, with our extensive support team based there. This includes our paralegal and operations teams, who provide one-on-one support to our lawyers, including legal, technical and file management support.
Requirements
Our Data Protection Lawyers cover the types of work set out below, but this is by no means a comprehensive list, nor do you need to have experience or expertise in all of these areas to apply:
- Operational guidance on UK GDPR and data protection laws
- Identifying data controller or data processor status
- Setting up agreements between data processors and data controllers
- Policy preparation for UK GDPR compliance
- Drafting Privacy Policies
- Cookie law compliance
- Drafting International Data Transfer Agreements
- Assisting with EU Standard Contractual Clauses
- Handling Data Subject Access Requests
- Data Protection Impact Assessment support
- Assisting with Transfer Impact Assessments
- Dealing with suspected data breaches
- Fair processing and consent management guidance
As well as having a current Practising (or Bar) Certificate and a minimum of 8 years’ relevant PQE, you will need to be a client-focused individual, who prides themselves on providing first-class legal guidance and advice.
Please note: We are currently only seeking solicitors or barristers with UK legal qualifications and experience.
Benefits
Working as a Consultant, you will be able to:
- Work when and wherever you want
- Receive monthly payments for the work you have carried out for our clients
- Easily manage clients and cases within our platform
- Utilise the on-hand support from our paralegal and operations teams
- Collaborate with other talented legal professionals
- Focus on legal work, instead of business development and marketing
If you’re interested in joining us, please upload a copy of your current CV, with confirmation that you are a UK-qualified solicitor or barrister and the date of your admission. We look forward to hearing from you!
