WHAT YOU’LL DO

The Database Architect/Administrator will be responsible for constantly monitoring our databases and immediately addressing database issues and problems. The successful candidate will also submit reports to management that outline the changing data needs of the company and come up with related solutions.


Work closely with our software and application development teams to recommend database structures based on the data storage and retrieval needs within each department.


MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Database estate administration and monitoring
  • Managing application system Disaster Recovery and high availability
  • Managing backup and recovery strategies / automation of maintenance and batch processing
  • Database performance tuning including TSQL / Procedural performance tuning (Optimizer and Index usage)
  • Database design and architecture, development and administration
  • Setting up best practice database development and acting as a database quality authority and stage gate for promotion of database code to production
  • Responsible for database object design
  • Training development team as to best practice database development standards
  • Implementation of source control and change control of Database and Middleware systems
  • Keeping database systems up-to-date with the latest service packs and security updates
  • Troubleshooting issues with both databases and third party applications
  • Managing ETL processes
  • Key player in the migration of database systems to Azure
  • Building and migration of SQL servers to appropriate versions
  • Ensure database systems (Dev / Test / UAT / Live) are kept at the appropriate versions and configuration
  • Managing database security and integrity
  • Managing Middleware
  • Provide insight into the changing database storage and utilization requirements for the company and offer suggestions for solutions
  • Quality control for SQL objects and queries produced by peninsulas software development teams
  • Responsible for middleware design, monitoring and maintenance
  • Database documentation
  • Development of data flow diagrams (current and future state)
  • Perform analytical testing and investigative work
  • Proposing system improvements
  • Experience as an escalation point for database issues and provide out of hours cover and be part of release process

**About the Team**
Nutanix Database Engineering Solutions team is responsible for development/test of Best Practices and Reference Architecture guides regarding Databases on Nutanix, as well as helping out with pre and post-sales support.

Within the DB Engineering Solutions team, you'll find no shortage of challenging problems to work on.
**Your Role**
+ Design and implement robust, high-performing, and future-ready database architectures that support operational, transactional, and analytical workloads.

+ Collaborate with Nutanix's Engineering by developing and running benchmarks, providing SWOT analysis of the Nutanix Platform in order enhance the Nutanix's offerings
+ Develop robust automation solutions for database provisioning, health monitoring, and lifecycle management to drive operational efficiency, consistency, and scalability.
+ Partner with Nutanix sales teams to support large-scale and strategic opportunities, providing technical expertise and solution alignment to drive customer value and deal success.
+ Provide help to install, support, and maintain Nutanix solutions during strategic Proof of Concept (POC) deployments
+ Be part of a global team of SME's providing help during customer escalations processes
+ Achieve NCX certification within the first year to enhance expertise in customer experience management and establish credibility.
**What You Will Bring**
+ 12+ years' experience in a customer-facing technical role - minimum of 5 years in database architecture, with hands-on experience in both relational and non-relational database systems, such as Oracle, MSSQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, etc.
+ 8+ years of Relational Database implementation, operations and/or solution deployment experience in a business-critical, high-availability context.
+ Deep expertise in one or more of the following areas: Server Virtualization; Networking, Storage, Platform and Database Performance tuning
+ Experience with deployments of databases on Kubernetes as a big plus
+ Hands on experience with Benchmarking tools like HammerDB, Benchmark Factory, PgBench, SLOB, cnp-bench or others
+ Experience in writing automation scripts (python, PowerShell) and experience with infrastructure automation frameworks such as Ansible, Chef, Puppet and similar
+ Knowledge of public cloud database solutions/offerings like AWS RDS is a plus
+ Excellent oral and written communications skills, as well as excellent presentation skills
+ Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

About the Role 

Are you ready to shape the future of data in financial services? We’re looking for a passionate Data Management Specialist to help drive our enterprise-wide data transformation.


In this exciting role, you’ll be at the heart of delivering our Data Strategy, leading on the rollout of Purview, enhancing our Data Management capabilities, supporting the rollout of Microsoft Fabric. You’ll work within a fast-paced, collaborative environment to embed best-in-class data practices and governance across the business.


This is a hybrid role with some presence required at our Bournemouth office. This role is a Fixed Term Contract for an initial 6 months.


About You


Essential:
•Proven experience in data management/governance preferably within Financial Services.
•Hands-on implementation experience with tools like Purview, Collibra, Informatica, or Alation. 
•Solid SQL skills and familiarity with Azure, Fabric, or other cloud platforms.
•Knowledge of data privacy regulations (UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018) and ETL processes.

Preferred:
•Purview implementation experience.
•Certifications such as DAMA/CDMP.
•Experience in data remediation, migration, and quality improvement projects.
•Ability to work cross-functionally with IT, compliance, and business teams.

The Details


•Spearheading the development of our Data Management roadmap, introducing key capabilities like Metadata Management, Master Data Management, Data Lineage, Business Glossaries, and Data Dictionaries.
•Strengthening our Data Ownership and Stewardship communities and championing our Data Literacy programme.
•Collaborating with the IT communities, Data Office and Data Privacy function to ensure data quality, consistency, and compliance across all business lines.
•Leading the implementation of Purview and supporting the migration to Microsoft Fabric, ensuring sensitive data is protected and risks are mitigated.
•Partner with the Head of Data, Data Governance Lead and Data Quality Lead to build a high-impact Data Governance team.
•Define and implement data management strategies aligned with regulatory frameworks (e.g., GDPR, BCBS 239).
•Act as a technical advisor and coach for our Accountable Executives, Data Owners and Stewards, delivering training and guidance.
•Drive MDM initiatives and collaborate with SCV Engineers to deliver a unified customer view.
•Conduct audits, support data migration, and ensure robust data classification and retention practices.

Bombardier's Business Aircraft London Service Centre in Biggin Hill is part of an award-winning network and is the flagship of Bombardier's European operation. This Base and Line Maintenance Centre is the fastest-growing Service Centre in Europe and the largest Business Aircraft OEM in the UK. The facility has the capabilities to perform an array of maintenance checks, modifications and upgrades all from this site. **What are your contributions to the team?**
- Collect, clean, and validate maintenance scheduling data from various sources.
- Maintain and update aircraft maintenance schedules in internal systems.
- Track aircraft maintenance milestones and flag potential scheduling conflicts or delays.
- Support the integration of data from maintenance management systems into scheduling tools.
- Maintain accurate records of aircraft downtime, hangar occupancy, and technician availability.
- Participate in daily scheduling meetings and document action items related to data updates.
- Assist in creating dashboards and reports to monitor progress, resource utilization, and turnaround times.
- Contribute to the development and testing of automated tools or scripts to streamline data entry and reporting.
- Prepare compliance reports and audit documentation related to maintenance scheduling.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as turnaround time, schedule adherence, and resource utilization.
- Collaborate with IT or data teams to troubleshoot data access or integrity issues.
- Archive and retrieve historical maintenance and scheduling data for analysis and forecasting.
- Ensure data privacy and security protocols are followed in line with company and regulatory standards.
- Help document data management processes and suggest improvements for efficiency and accuracy
**How to thrive in this role?**
- Able to work on site from Monday - Friday (40 hours per week)
- Strong proficiency in Excel; familiarity with Power BI is a plus.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Good communication skills and ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
- Interest in aviation or aircraft maintenance is desirable but not essential.
