This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a collaborative practice of 18 professionals, all of whom share a strong passion for design.

The team work across private residential projects, including new builds, extensions, conversions, renovations, and listed buildings, blending high-quality architecture with interior design expertise.

The Role: Interior Designer / Interior Architect 
  • Producing detailed interior drawings – elevations, plans, and accompanying schedules.

  • Office-based, five days a week (with the option to work from home on one day a week after probation).

Our client, a leading automotive manufacturer with a strong presence in innovation, is seeking a highly creative and technically adept Senior Automotive Design Engineer specializing in either Exterior or Interior design to join their dynamic team in Southampton, Hampshire, UK . This role is critical in shaping the aesthetics and functionality of future vehicle generations. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of automotive design principles, advanced surfacing techniques, and manufacturing processes, coupled with a passion for creating compelling and market-leading vehicle designs. You will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, translating conceptual ideas into production-ready designs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop innovative and aesthetically compelling exterior or interior vehicle designs according to brand identity and market trends.
  • Utilize advanced 3D CAD software (e.g., CATIA V5/V6, Alias) to create high-quality surface models and design proposals.
  • Translate conceptual sketches and digital renderings into precise, production-intent surfacing.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering teams (e.g., aerodynamics, structural, HMI) to ensure design feasibility, performance, and manufacturability.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Automotive Design, Industrial Design, Transportation Design, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in automotive design, with a significant focus on either exterior or interior design.
  • Expert proficiency in 3D surfacing software such as CATIA V5/V6 and/or Autodesk Alias.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing exceptional design skills, creativity, and technical execution in automotive design.
