**What you'll be doing:**
As the Delivery Director, you will play a crucial role in enhancing performance and fostering growth within our portfolio of accounts. Your primary objective will be to ensure exceptional delivery standards, surpassing client expectations, and achieving P&L targets for all provided services. You'll engage closely with senior client stakeholders, acting as the primary liaison for delivery matters, overseeing the smooth onboarding of new project teams, and facilitating the launch of new services. Your leadership will extend to major bids within the Industry Sector, where you'll drive the development of competitive yet robust solutions.
Alongside your oversight duties, you'll actively mentor project and service delivery managers, fostering their professional growth. Your role will involve leveraging established relationships at senior levels to drive expansion strategies for existing accounts and contributing to the estimation and assurance of delivery for bids typically ranging from £1m to £0m. As the Delivery Director, you'll demonstrate leadership in identifying and pursuing sales opportunities for expansion, staying updated on current and future trends shaping the domain specific capability.
**What experience you'll bring:**
Our ideal candidate for the Delivery Director role will be an experienced professional with a track record of full delivery and P&L accountability across a significant client portfolio, exceeding 0m. You should possess a deep understanding of the dynamics and challenges within the Industry Business Unit, coupled with a proven history of successfully delivering large-scale, complex bids within the domain ( 0m+). Strong senior stakeholder management skills are essential, as you'll be influencing across a diverse and intricate delivery portfolio.
Key competencies include adeptness in leading distributed teams, familiarity with delivery methodologies such as Agile and Scaled Agile, commercial acumen in pricing models and contracting methods, understanding of procurement and security constraints relevant to the Industry Business Unit, and knowledge of central best practices and operational processes. Your success in this role will be gauged by client satisfaction and P&L performance across the existing delivery portfolio, with personal impact evident in positive client feedback and successful deliveries without escalations requiring senior management intervention.

About You  

Experience, skills and knowledge

1. A relevant professional qualification in project, programme, or portfolio management (e.g. MSP, MoP, PRINCE2, APM Chartered Project Professional, or equivalent), and/or substantial equivalent experience in leading complex, high-value infrastructure projects or programmes.

2. Lead criterion : Significant knowledge and experience of major projects delivery, ideally in an infrastructure sector with substantial commercial risk.

3. Lead criterion : Experience of senior leadership for major projects or programmes and the ability to effectively lead teams and projects through change and uncertainty and delivering performance.

4. Highly tuned interpersonal skills, particularly in negotiation, influencing and engagement, with the ability to build trust, confidence and lasting partnerships across organisations.

5. An inclusive leadership style which inspires, motivates, and promotes collaboration to develop high performing, innovative and inclusive teams.

6. Demonstrable experience of stakeholder engagement and getting a wide range of conflicting views aligned.

Role overview 

We are looking for an experienced leader to run our engagements and grow our business with the public sector. Clients have been an important part of our work for many years. We’ve worked across local government, charities, government agencies as well as private sector clients, helping leaders to define digital strategy, to turn around major programmes, and implement modern organisational design and practices for more effective digital delivery. 

We are looking for someone to deliver consultancy projects with clients across our portfolio. You must have a strong understanding of how to you must have a strong understanding of how to lead change in large complex organisations, preferably including the public sector, and how to implement and grow modern, user-centred and responsive ways of working in teams. 

  • You will lead our client engagements and build strong, pragmatic working relationships with leaders and digital practitioners in large, complex organisations and institutions. 
  • You will support organisations to lead in digital and user-centred approaches
  • You will work with team members to ensure successful delivery of projects.
  • You will extend the reach of PD’s reputation and network by representing PD in events, written comms and digital government networks. 
  • You will also contribute to our rapid growth by generating and developing new leads, and help strengthen our global reputation.
  • You will help to contribute to the development and advancement of internal team members by mentoring and passing on your experience. 

Requirements

  • Your demonstrable experience will make you an excellent leader in this role. You understand how to operate effectively in large organisations. You are experienced working in large complex organizations, ideally within government however this is not essential.
  • Experience working within a consultative role, either through a consulting firm, agency or in an in house position would be highly desirable.
  • You’ve led and empowered teams to deliver excellent work.
  • You will be willing to travel when needed so as to help deliver some projects in person as well as working in different time zones as needed.
  • You have experience of agile and user-centred approaches to digital delivery. You understand how to apply new ways of working in organisations,  facilitating teams to build capability, collaborate and become more self-organising
  • You’re excellent at stakeholder management and comfortable working closely with senior leaders, as a trusted advisor and clear communicator.
  • You have a pragmatic and proactive approach to managing and delivering projects, including excellent levels of organisation, prioritisation and delivery management 
  • You are collaborative, comfortable working in the open, and have an ability to visualise and map concepts and ideas.
