Lead Design Management projects across the UK and Internationally.
Management of AECOM financial process and invoicing.
Review of work outputs from team prior to issue to ensure quality and compliance with contractual obligations.

**_Managing Sub-consultants_**
Prepare responsibility matrix to identify sub-consultant responsibility for each area of scope.
Draft and distribute sub-consultant back-to-back contracts so that all scope is accounted for.
Manage updates to sub-consultant contracts and prepare final documents.
Prepare and update cash flow projections.
Establish procedures for invoice submission for sub-consultants and monitor.
Track and report on the progress of all sub-consultant invoices and prepare a monthly Financial Report.

**_Establishment and Implementation of Design Management Procedures including:-_**

Roles and Responsibilities/Scope Delineation
Preparing design programmes, monitoring and reporting progress
Managing Deliverables/outputs
Managing Design Quality

The Client 

A well-established construction company with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality construction projects across the Country. Specialising in reinforced concrete (RC) frame structures, they are expanding our project portfolio and are looking for a talented and driven Design Manager to join our growing team.

The Role

As a Design Manager, you will take the lead on managing the design process from pre-construction through to delivery, ensuring that all design elements meet both client expectations and technical requirements. You will work closely with project teams, consultants, architects, and subcontractors to ensure seamless coordination across all stages of the build.

This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in RC frame residential construction who can confidently manage multiple projects simultaneously and contribute to the successful delivery of high-rise and mid-rise developments.

Your role will be office based 95% of the time but will be required to visit sites every so often which can be nationally. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • p>Manage the design process from planning through to construction and handover.

  • Coordinate with consultants, structural engineers, architects, and subcontractors.

  • Ensure all design information is delivered in line with project timelines and budgets.

  • Review drawings, specifications, and technical submissions to ensure compliance with regulations and project requirements.

  • Lead design meetings and maintain clear communication between stakeholders.

  • Support the pre-construction and estimating teams during the tender process.

  • Resolve design-related issues promptly during the construction phase.

  • Ensure health & safety, buildability, and value engineering are considered in the design.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Design Manager or Design Coordinator in the construction industry.

  • Strong understanding of RC frame construction and residential projects.

  • Degree-qualified in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • Excellent knowledge of building regulations and industry standards.

  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and deadlines effectively.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.

  • Proficient in relevant software (AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, etc.) is advantageous.

A highly regarded main contractor operating in the Commercial, Mixed-Use, and Residential sectors is seeking an experienced Design Manager to join their team.

The successful candidate will take a key role in the delivery of a 30m New Build Mixed-Use project, primarily residential-led. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a forward-thinking contractor on a high-profile development.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the on-site Design Coordination and manage external consultants.
  • Support the Project Manager in ensuring technical compliance and seamless design integration.
  • Oversee early feasibility, procurement stages, and design management to ensure project success.
  • Ensure construction methodology, regulations, and design standards are adhered to.
  • Maintain a process-driven approach, with a keen eye for detail and strong problem-solving skills.

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience as a Design Manager working on site leading a project in excess of c20m.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience working for a Main Contractor.
  • Knowledge of Construction methodology and Residential design standards would be advantageous (NHBC/LABC)
  • Previous Roles: Technical Manager OR Assistant Design Manager OR Design Manager OR Design Co-ordinator OR Assistant Design & Build Manager.

Qualifications & Skills: HNC or Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Architecture.
