Are you an experienced electrical/controls engineer with a background in special-purpose machinery? If so, please read on!
I am currently recruiting on behalf of a global leader in the design and manufacture of packaging machinery, primarily serving the food/beverage & pharmaceutical industries.
The successful candidate will be an experienced engineer, ideally having 10+ years of experience working on packaging machinery, however other special-purpose machinery backgrounds can be considered. You will be designing electrical control systems, developing machine software, conducting safety analysis & more to produce top quality end results.
Your experience will ideally include a bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, however the main requirement is a strong background with special-purpose machinery, ideally packaging. Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical and EPLAN is ideal along with experience of Rockwell, Beckhoff and/or Zenon. A working knowledge of machinery safety/compliance is also preferred.
The package includes a strong salary along with 1 day a week remote working, very flexible start and finish times, opportunity for paid overtime, and more.

The Software Design Manager will play an integral role in managing a small team of embedded and system software engineers. Working on new and maintaining existing product development in a multi-discipline team environment.

Software Design Manager Responsibilities:
- Carry out engineering activities in accordance with company QA procedures and to meet regulatory regimes such as Medical Device Regulation (EU), ISO13485 (Int), FDA CFR820 (USA) and appropriate standards including IEC 60601, IEC 62304, ISO 14971. li>Management of resources providing motivation, supervision and guidance of software engineering staff.
- Ensure adherence to current software design controls & processes.
- Collaborate with Engineers to create Software development plans, Software Specifications, Software Architecture Specifications & be responsible for the upkeep of all Software Design documentation.
- Project management, including the generation of regular progress reports.
- Advise on and implement appropriate tools for software development and maintenance.

- Qualified to degree level in software engineering or equivalent with a proven track record of managing a small software team.
- Experience in a medical software design or Aerospace software design environment or similar highly regulated environment.
- Experience of embedded & application development environment.
- Experience in a variety of programming languages.
- Software version control and configuration management, e.g. Azure DevOps.
- Familiarity with project management methodologies.
- Familiar with requirements capture and maintenance tools.
