Your Purpose:
- Deliver technical design work following relevant design standards and codes, and to high-quality levels.
- Prepare briefs, scopes of work, and input into bid proposals.
- Work closely with teams in the UK and overseas to deliver integrated design solutions.
- Understand, communicate and manage project risks.
- Adhere to quality assurance standards in design.
What you can bring:
- Chartered Civil Engineer.
- Experience in leading design delivery, including multidisciplinary design and Design & Build.
- Comprehensive knowledge in water and/or wastewater treatment, storage solutions, hydraulics, water supply and wastewater collection systems and familiarity with current UK design standards and working practices.
- Sound commercial, contractual and programme experience.

Role Overview:
This is a flexible design role suitable for both junior and senior candidates with an interest or background in commercial kitchen ventilation and stainless steel fabrication. You'll be involved in the technical design and specification of bespoke extraction systems for a wide range of clients, from restaurants to large commercial kitchens. The level of responsibility and independence will align with your experience.
Experience required:
Ideally HVAC experience or kitchen ventaliation expereince
Key Responsibilities:
Depending on experience, responsibilities may include:
- Supporting or leading the design of commercial kitchen ventilation systems from concept through to production.
- Collaborating with Sales, Project Engineers, and Clients to understand system requirements (canopies, ductwork, fans, interlocks, air-handling units).
- Producing accurate CAD drawings and system specifications for manufacturing and installation.
- Assisting with or independently calculating airflow and extraction rates in line with HSE, DW172, and Building Regulations.
- Selecting suitable materials and components (fans, filters, ducting, stainless steel grade, recirculation units).
- Preparing technical packs for the workshop team.
- Conducting or supporting site surveys and adapting designs based on real-world conditions.
- Liaising with internal teams and installers to ensure smooth project delivery.
- Providing aftersales and technical support where necessary.
Essential (All Levels):
- Qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, Building Services, Product Design, or related field (degree, HNC/HND, apprenticeship).
- Strong interest in ventilation, HVAC, or commercial kitchen environments.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD or other CAD software.
- Good attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
- Will receive training and mentorship from senior designers and engineers.
- Basic understanding of airflow principles and/or CAD-based design.
- Willingness to learn regulations (e.g., DW172, HSE).
- Proven track record designing full commercial ventilation systems.
- Confident in independently producing specifications and airflow calculations.
- Experience in stainless steel fabrication, duct layout planning, and client liaison.

**About You**
You will have prior demonstrable experience of working in roles where you have provided leadership on major projects in consultancy or contracting companies - preferably as a Project Manager, but otherwise as Design Manager, Project Engineer or Project Leader. You will most likely be from a technical background - either technical engineering, construction management, environmental or other consulting backgrounds.
You will hold qualifications in engineering or project management with a deep understanding of large and complex construction / engineering projects. You will also need to possess strongly demonstratable commercial and contractual acumen and understanding of NEC contracts.
Through your previous roles within project delivery, you will have experience of achieving a position of trusted partner with clients and other stakeholders and acting as a mentor for less experienced team members. At all times you will support, promote and maintain our company values, especially in ensuring we put our people & clients first.
**Role accountabilities:**
+ Overseeing multi-disciplinary design coordination and providing leadership
+ Driving collaboration with all stakeholders across all stages of the project lifecycle
+ Driving timely delivery of technical and commercial outcomes, ensuring delivery is above client expectation
+ Accountable for ensuring effective financial and project management controls are in place and deployed to enable monitoring, modification and forecasting of design progress as appropriate

+ Driving project performance, service delivery and technical outcomes, ensuring client delivery is above expectation.
