Job Summary:

We are looking for a dynamic, creative & innovative Design Engineer to join our growing team.  You will have a proven track record in engineering design, ideally with experience in motorsport, defence, automotive or aerospace sectors.

Are you an experienced design engineer with at least five years’ experience (including any study time) and a sharp understanding of the development process, design for manufacture, production process and project management? As a proficient Design Engineer, you will be expected to produce engineering drawings, BOMs and build procedures for production in a timely manner with accuracy and attention to detail. You will also be involved in the product development process from concept, through prototyping, test and validation to manufacturing.

We require our engineers to be well rounded. We expect a willingness to be involved at all stages of the process, from design, through hands on testing into prototyping and production. We expect our engineers to be able to work autonomously but also play a significant part of a wider team as required.

Main Job Responsibilities:

·    Management and updating of existing drawings and designs

·   Produce detailed engineering drawings to the in-house requirements

·   Produce detailed build procedures through reviews of the design and discussion with manufacturing

·    BOM development, produce Data sheets and other quality documentation

·   Design issue analysis and resolution

·   Product Design and development

·   Run testing as required, in house and externally, across the range of Lifeline products

·   Resolve problems and determine root causes

·   Manage new product introductions to manufacturing

·   Define and manage safety protocols

·   Produce technical bulletins

Job Skills & Qualifications:

Required:

·   Experience in product design, development and manufacture

·   Experience of manufacturing procedure writing

REPORTING TO: Lead/Principal Engineer - Design

To work within the Engineering department of Penso as part of a multi-disciplined project team, providing engineering assistance to the Principal Engineer(s) and the teams on both internal and external (Penso Consulting) projects. To undertake training (formal and on-the-job) to develop engineering and design skills

The primary role of the APPRENTICE ENGINEER (Engineering) shall be the undertaking of a variety of tasks to assist the Engineering team in its primary business which is the delivery and design of a commodity in line with customer requirements. This will include the following tasks among others and will be complimented with training to be able to perform the tasks: -

• Carry out engineering tasks to support the Engineering teams
• Support the coordination and facilitation of engineering meetings
• Data management – ensuring that design and development documentation according to PQMS is kept up to date
• Generate documents required in the design and development process as set out in PQMS
• Design work using CAD (with training)
• Preparation of reports and presentation material for internal reviews
• Assist Principal Engineers and Lead Engineers in presenting engineering solutions to internal and external customers
  Communicating with internal customers on a day-to-day basis
