PE Global is currently recruiting for a Design Engineer (engines) for a leading multinational manufacturer of construction and mining equipment client based in Stafford.
This is an initial 12 months contract position working on site 5 days a week.
Pay rate is £21.21ph PAYE or £28.79ph Umbrella.
Duties of the role/Responsibilities
- Researching new materials and competitive products. Organizing, coordinating, and executing the building, testing, and analysis of prototypes.
- Assisting supply specialists and buyers with supplier development and supplier performance.
- Leading and supporting DFMEA and DVP&R creation.
- Provides effective technical solutions to routine functional challenges via sound technical competence, effectively examining implications of events and issues.
- Release of product designs into engineering systems to a high quality and defect free standard
- Leads the design, analysis, and simulation elements. Prepares and maintains personal plans and is responsible for meeting scheduled dates.
- Prepare presentations and to share proposals and solutions with other members of the organisation.
- Be single point of contact to the “Cost-Down” project team and be the engineering lead within that group.
Education/Experience
- Requires a bachelor degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum plus 1-3 years’.
- Experience in Diesel / spark ignited engine design
- Product Development experience
- Extensive knowledge of Creo
- Ability to perform simple simulation work
- Good mechanical aptitude with ability to develop product concepts.
- Requires strong leadership ability and good communications skills.

We are looking for a dynamic, creative & innovative Design Engineer to join our growing team. You will have a proven track record in engineering design, ideally with experience in motorsport, defence, automotive or aerospace sectors.
Are you an experienced design engineer with at least five years’ experience (including any study time) and a sharp understanding of the development process, design for manufacture, production process and project management? As a proficient Design Engineer, you will be expected to produce engineering drawings, BOMs and build procedures for production in a timely manner with accuracy and attention to detail. You will also be involved in the product development process from concept, through prototyping, test and validation to manufacturing.
We require our engineers to be well rounded. We expect a willingness to be involved at all stages of the process, from design, through hands on testing into prototyping and production. We expect our engineers to be able to work autonomously but also play a significant part of a wider team as required.
Main Job Responsibilities:
· Management and updating of existing drawings and designs
· Produce detailed engineering drawings to the in-house requirements
· Produce detailed build procedures through reviews of the design and discussion with manufacturing
· BOM development, produce Data sheets and other quality documentation
· Design issue analysis and resolution
