**A Day in the Life**
The Digital Technologies Business Unit (DTBU) at Medtronic is implementing cutting-edge AI technology, computer vision, and augmented reality in the operating room (OR) to augment surgical coaching, and eventually, performance. Our goal is to deliver safer surgery around the world.
Our Touch SurgeryTM Video solution is an innovative video management and data analytics platform for hospitals that includes the DS1 Computer, our first OR device, allowing surgeons, OR team members, and trainees to securely access videos of their procedures shortly after surgery.
**Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:**
Manage a team of data scientists within the Surgical Operating Unit at Medtronic.
Lead advanced analytics initiatives to foster a data-driven culture within Medtronic.
Act as a key stakeholder in the design and development of data infrastructure and models.
Guide the team in applying statistical and predictive methods to analyze customer behavior and product performance.
Oversee the development and productization of data products, delivering actionable insights to customers.
Support the professional development of team members and strengthen their technical capabilities.
Drive innovation and continuous improvement in data practices and analytics strategies.
**Required Knowledge and Experience:**
MSc or PhD in a STEM subject.
Previous experience managing teams of data scientists.
A solid grounding in SQL with a good understanding of best practices in software engineering and data engineering.
Practical object-oriented programming experience in Python with knowledge of relevant packages including Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, Matplotlib, Scikit-learn, Pytorch.
In-depth knowledge of statistical and machine learning models as well as experience with end-to-end delivery lifecycles.
Experience in writing clean and maintainable code for collaborative working and using code versioning tools.
Excellent communicator and experience with stakeholder management.
Selfu2013starter mindset u2013 you can proactively identify issues and opportunities for improvement.
Experience of and ability to effectively use cloud native data science tooling.
Extensive experience with Tableau and dbt or similar tooling.
Ideally, you will bring knowledge of data compliance frameworks, including GDPR, HIPAA, and SOC2 policies. Experience integrating highly heterogeneous data streamsu2014such as IoT data, customer interactions, and product performance metricsu2014is also valuable. Additionally, domain knowledge in health technology or surgical practice would be a strong asset.

The Senior Clinical Research Manager at Digital Technologies (DT) will report to the Vice President, Clinical Research & Medical Science, Surgical Operating Unit. This leadership role is accountable for developing and executing the global clinical evidence strategy for the Digital Technologies Business Unit (DT BU), with a focus on innovation, quality, and alignment with DT business strategies.
This role partners closely with Medical Affairs, R&D, Marketing, Regulatory Affairs, Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR), and physician investigators to ensure evidence generation drives product adoption, regulatory approvals, and external scientific engagement.
The leader will also mentor and develop talent, foster a culture of collaboration and accountability, and build strategic partnerships to advance clinical and business priorities globally.
**Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:**
Lead a small team of Clinical Research Specialists, developing talent and building capabilities across clinical strategies and execution.
Drive global clinical strategy for digital and AI technologies, including evidence generation for regulatory, market access, and differentiation.
Oversee global clinical studies (pre- and post-market), ensuring scientific rigor, compliance, and alignment with business goals.
Align with stakeholders (regulators, payers, HCPs, patients, internal teams) to integrate their needs into clinical strategies.
Manage clinical budgets and ensure appropriate resource allocation.
Build and maintain global KOL networks to support strategy and evidence dissemination.
Collaborate cross-functionally (R&D, Regulatory, HEOR, Commercial, etc.) to align resources and accelerate innovation.

Strong understanding of AI/ML-enabled medical technologies and associated clinical/regulatory considerations.
Proven track record of building and mentoring high-performing clinical teams.
Experience engaging with global regulatory bodies (e.g., FDA, Notified Bodies, PMDA).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including executive presence and influencing skills.
Demonstrated success working cross-functionally to deliver business impact through clinical evidence.
Preferred skills include an advanced degree such as an MS, PhD, MD, or MPH, demonstrating a strong academic foundation relevant to the role. Candidates should possess solid financial acumen, with experience in managing complex budgets and adhering to project timelines. **A Day in the Life**
The Digital Technologies Business Unit (DTBU) at Medtronic is implementing cutting-edge AI technology, computer vision, and augmented reality in the operating room (OR) to augment surgical coaching, and eventually, performance. Our goal is to deliver safer surgery around the world. Our Touch SurgeryTM Video solution is an innovative video management and data analytics platform for hospitals that includes the DS1 Computer, our first OR device, allowing surgeons, OR team members, and trainees to securely access videos of their procedures shortly after surgery.
The Senior Clinical Research Manager at Digital Technologies (DT) will report to the Vice President, Clinical Research & Medical Science, Surgical Operating Unit. This leadership role is accountable for developing and executing the global clinical evidence strategy for the Digital Technologies Business Unit (DT BU), with a focus on innovation, quality, and alignment with DT business strategies.
This role partners closely with Medical Affairs, R&D, Marketing, Regulatory Affairs, Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR), and physician investigators to ensure evidence generation drives product adoption, regulatory approvals, and external scientific engagement.
The leader will also mentor and develop talent, foster a culture of collaboration and accountability, and build strategic partnerships to advance clinical and business priorities globally.

Lead a small team of Clinical Research Specialists, developing talent and building capabilities across clinical strategies and execution.
Drive global clinical strategy for digital and AI technologies, including evidence generation for regulatory, market access, and differentiation.
Oversee global clinical studies (pre- and post-market), ensuring scientific rigor, compliance, and alignment with business goals.
Align with stakeholders (regulators, payers, HCPs, patients, internal teams) to integrate their needs into clinical strategies.
Manage clinical budgets and ensure appropriate resource allocation.
Build and maintain global KOL networks to support strategy and evidence dissemination.
Collaborate cross-functionally (R&D, Regulatory, HEOR, Commercial, etc.) to align resources and accelerate innovation.

**A Typical Day:**
+ Leading the implementation of digital tools for one or more clinical trials with accountability for quality and compliance
+ Defining and supporting study-level strategies for validating and maintaining eClinical technologies
+ Leading all aspects of digital vendor performance, including KPIs, root cause analysis, and issue customer concern
+ Leading project timelines, documentation, risk mitigation, and communication planning
+ Monitoring financial aspects and ensuring timely delivery of vendor outputs
+ Mentoring new team members and providing training to internal partners
+ Chipping in to the creation of standards and expansion of eSource modalities across studies

**To Be Considered:**
You'll need proven experience with digital tools and technologies in a clinical research setting-especially eCOA systems development processes-and a strong grasp of ICH/GCP guidelines. Proficiency in project management, vendor oversight, and trial systems is required. Experience in strategic planning, partner communication, and innovation implementation is highly valued. Familiarity with Microsoft Project Server and prior success in cross-functional team leadership are preferred. Up to 25% travel may be required.
