We have an opening for a talented Flood Risk & Drainage Engineer with a passion for the environment to join our clients award winning team. This is for a blue-chip, inclusive and diverse multidisciplinary design consultancy within their London office. With around 1-3 years previous experience, the core role will be to deliver Flood Risk Assessments and SUDS strategies for development projects in accordance with the NPPF, including sustainable drainage strategies for planning and also due diligence flood risk advice to landowners and carry out flood studies in the public sector.
Their work includes a wide variety of projects, such as high-profile estate regeneration projects, mixed-use urban developments, strategic land schemes, tall buildings, industrial & logistics facilities, highways, rail, river enhancement and flood alleviation schemes across the UK where flood risk is a key aspect of a development.

The role
- Acting as author of Flood Risk Assessments for a broad mix of private sector development and public sector flood risk management schemes.
- Formulation of conceptual surface water drainage strategies incorporating SuDS and associated hydraulic calculations.
- Attending meetings with clients, design teams, local authorities and statutory and non-statutory consultees.
- Recognising and communicating flooding and drainage related constraints and opportunities at development sites.
- Producing and reviewing a wide range of FRAs and drainage strategies using MicroDrainage / InfoDrainage.
What you need to succeed
- Good knowledge of the planning system, in particular policy and guidance including the NPPF and SuDS Manual.
- Understanding of hydrological and hydraulic modelling principles, ideally with some experience with Tuflow, Flood Modeller and FEH.
- Good financial control, project management and communication skills in a client facing role.

The Role:
In this role you will predominately be site-based working across the UK, completing drainage investigations and making recommendations for repairs. Exceptional problem-solving skills are essential.
You must be experienced in High Pressure Water Jetting clearance of below ground blockages and the skills to trouble shot problematic drainage systems including completing detailed CCTV investigation reports.
Excellent customer service skills, being able to confidently speak to customers to explain the work you are competing leaving them with a great experience.
Experience Required:
- Use of CCTV surveying equipment, generating detailed Reports to WRC Defect Grading & Guidelines.
- Use of CAT/GENIE and Sonar tracing equipment in order to identify buried services and to trace/locate & map out drainage system.
- Reinstatement of various different domestic surface types i.e. paving slabs, block paving, etc.
- Outstanding customer care
- Proven problem-solving skills
- Full driving licence
- Trained Engineers & Certificated an advantage but not essential.

Key Responsibilities:
·Foul and Surface Water Drainage Design to Building Regulations/ Sewers for Adoption (Sewage Industry Guidance) for Development project work.
·Highway Drainage Design to DMRB for ETE project work.
·LLFA/ S278/S38/S106 experience both in design and checking of designs as part of a mixed project/ HDA/ LLFA workload.
