Job Purpose

In this role, you’ll be at the heart of building and delivering that integrated approach working across Cumbria and Lancashire to align plans, identify shared challenges and unlock innovative, partnership-led opportunities.

You’ll need a good understanding of planning frameworks, nature-based solutions, and the value of partnership working. Strong communication, organisational, and relationship-building skills are essential, as is a proactive mindset that can challenge the status quo and explore new ways of working.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the roadmap for driving integrated water management in the North West
  • Interact with the relevant County hubs to ensure that key UU risk, issues and opportunities are integrated with those of partners to identify opportunities to deliver better value
  • Build and sustain relationships with key external partners who offer the greatest capability to integrate with the aim of delivering better value
  • Support the management of a partnership opportunity pipeline for UU to ensure there is a single place for visibility of emerging partnership projects that can be tracked through to delivery
  • Ensure that internal and external governance for integrated water management is adhered to
  • Work closely with those developing the WRMP, DWMP and WINEP to enhance the value delivered through the plans, the relevance to the place and the amount of partnership delivery
  • Ensure the benefits of IWM and partnership projects arising are tracked.

Technical Skills & Experience

  • Strong communications skills with experience of working with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Good awareness of the water industry and its dependence on ecosystem resilience
  • Good understanding of the potential of nature based solutions
  • Experience of aligning the interests of varied stakeholders
  • Computer literate with an excellent knowledge of SharePoint, Excel and other relevant computer systems to enable manipulation of data to aid reporting.
  • Strong analytical skills and able to draw appropriate conclusions from relevant data and information.
  • Ability to think creatively and develop and present their own ideas to ensure that appropriate changes are effectively delivered through the business.
  • Awareness of the various planning frameworks eg WINEP, WRMP, DWMP

Qualifications

  • Degree or post graduate qualification in a relevant discipline or have significant relevant experience

**About You**
You will have the confidence to liaise with colleagues and clients at all levels and the ability to organise your workload across multiple projects. The ideal candidate will be a positive and enthusiastic team player, who has a BEng/MEng degree in Civil Engineering and has achieved or is working towards chartered status.
You will have experience and understanding of AutoCAD, Microsoft Office programs and other relevant software packages. In addition to the above, experience in civil engineering specification for the water industry (CESWI) and experience in NEC construction contracts would be beneficial but not essential.

Collaborating closely with our sales, design, and engineering teams, you will secure robust project specifications and maximise profitable sales pipelines. Additionally, you will work across Marshalls’ Business Units to align our Sustainable Drainage Systems (SUDs) offerings with the evolving needs of target sectors and customers. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Take ownership of the commercial success and conversion of all Water Management project opportunities within the assigned geographical area. 
  • Develop and execute a focused regional Business Plan to achieve water management sales targets and budgets. 
  • Engage with Consultant Engineers and Specifiers in the Utilities and Infrastructure markets to drive project specifications and opportunities. 
  • Lead early pre-tender engagements, presenting tailored value propositions and collaborating with technical teams to expand the Civils and Drainage portfolio on major projects. 
  • Monitor market trends, assess competitor activities, and provide insights to ensure Marshalls maintains its market leadership in water management solutions. 
  • Represent Marshalls at industry exhibitions, trade events, and CPD seminars, contributing to strategic initiatives that promote our water management capabilities. 
  • Support national sales and marketing objectives, ensuring that regional plans are aligned with company goals and priorities in the water management sector. 

 
What are the Mission critical skills ?

  • Extensive and proven experience in a sales or business development role within construction or infrastructure with excellent negotiation skills.  (Candidates with experience in sales roles specifically dealing with water management frameworks and water suppliers are highly desirable) 
  • Strong understanding of civil engineering principles, drainage systems, and water management solutions and demonstrable experience of applying this in role.   
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills to foster long-term partnerships.  
  • Commercial acumen is a must with the ability to analyse trends, create strategies, and drive results.  
  • Effective time management, journey planning, and reporting capabilities.  

Desirable:  

  • Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a related field.

Experience / Qualifications:
- It is essential to hold hands-on Water Treatment Plumbing experience
- Hold the NVQ Level 2 in Plumbing as a minimum
- Ideally will hold the G3 Unvented Ticket
- Fully conversant in HSG 274 and ACOP L8 guidelines
- Experienced working across a range of client sites
- Proficient in using IT software to complete reports
- Good literacy and numeracy skills

The Role:
- Carrying out PPM remedial duties and installations projects
- Tank installations, refurbishments and chlorinations
- TMV replacements and installations
- Deadleg removals
- Valve and dosing pot installations
- Pipework adjustments and installations
- Cylinder replacements and installations
- Water heater replacements
- Interpreting risk assessments to determine required remedial tasks
- Keeping accurate records of works undertaken

Responsibilities 
  
  • General Electrical duties. Install, Test, Maintain and examination of all current carrying equipment up to 1000v ac, 1200v dc. 
  • Work on HV systems to 11000v under the direct guidance and supervision of ECS qualified SAP and AP 
  • Safe working knowledge of ECS “Permit to work “ system 
  • Installation of Electrical equipment such as MCC panels, motors, control equipment inc all Electrically operated fixed and portable equipment 
  • Selection and erection of cable handling systems 
  • Fault finding on Electrical equipment 
  • Works can be varied and at times may be required to undertake other duties such as assisting Mechanical  or Civils engineering staff 
  • Responsibility for the use of a company van  
  • Will work away from home on occasions when travelling is not in the best interest of the company, (this will tend to be Monday – Friday, weekends back home) 
  • Implement all of the company’s rules or procedures within the Health and Safety Policy that are appropriate to the activities being undertaken. 
  • Understand and sign onto all CPP/RAMS on Site and follow Safe Systems of Work and Risk Assessments. 
  • Adhere to all Health and Safety requirements and rules on Site. 
  • Always think Safety in mind and look after yourself and your colleagues. 
  • Wear all appropriate PPE. 
  
  
Competence Profile 
  • Electrical apprenticeship or level 3 Electrical  qualification as a minimum 
  • Confined Space trained (Current)  
  • CSCS JIB Card holder 
  • Lifting operations qualified (CPCS) (Desirable) 
  • 2391 Test and Inspection 
  • First Aid (Desirable)  
  • Health and Safety trained (IOSH) (Desirable)
