VGC Group are currently recruiting for a Multi Skilled Operative with Dumper Driver experience to join a project based in Saxmundham, Suffolk.

This is a great opportunity for a reliable and hard-working Operative looking for work, and to gain experience with a Tier 1 client.

We are looking for someone who can work well as part of a team, and support site operations to keep the project running safely and efficiently. The successful candidate will support a variety of groundworks and site duties and will ideally hold a couple of plant tickets to assist with machinery where required.

Pay Rate: £20.47 per hour PAYE
Hours: Monday - Friday 7am-5pm
Start Date: ASAP

Lodge and Travel is not available for this role

As the Multi Skilled Operative / Dumper Driver, your responsibilities may include:

– Assisting trades and site management with labouring duties
– Keeping the site clean, tidy, and safe at all times
– Use of company vehicle to drive between sites
– Dumper Driver duties
– Supporting with general site set-up and maintenance
– Following all site health and safety procedures
– Carrying out any other general site duties as required

To be considered for this role, you must have:

– A valid CSCS Card / CPCS Card (With Applicable Dumper Certification)
– Previous experience in this role or similar
– A good work ethic and positive attitude
– The ability to work well independently and as part of a team
– Good punctuality and reliability
– Right to work in the UK
– Full, Clean UK Driving License

As a **Senior Construction Machine Operator,** you will safely operate/drive a range of construction facility equipment within a controlled test and operational environment. You will complete defined machine activities while supporting product validation and performance assessment. This role requires precision, consistency and strong technical awareness. You will work independently and as part of a team within our facility.
As a **Senior Construction Machine Operator/Driver** **,** you are accountable for, but not limited to:
+ Operating Backhoe Loaders, Wheel Loaders and Telehandlers safely and efficiently across varied tasks
+ Carrying out defined machine profiles including Y Cycles, loading, excavation and material handling activities
+ Supporting endurance testing and validation programmes to assess machine performance
+ Identifying and reporting defects, faults and performance issues during operation
+ Recording accurate data and observations using mobile systems and reporting tools
+ Working collaboratively with engineers and team members to support product improvement

FM Conway is currently looking for an experienced Class 1 & Class 2 Multi‑Skilled Driver to join our dynamic Surfacing division. This is a varied and hands‑on role supporting our surfacing and highways operations by transporting plant, machinery, materials and specialist equipment safely and efficiently across our projects.

As a Multi‑Skilled Driver, you will be responsible for operating Class 1 and Class 2 vehicles, transporting plant using a low loader, delivering fuel using a diesel bowser, supplying water using a water bowser and supporting operational teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and on schedule. This is a full‑time, permanent position, working both days and nights, based out of Chelsfield, Kent.

As our Class 1 and Class 2 Multi‑Skilled Driver you will:
  • Safely operating Class 1 and Class 2 vehicles across a range of highways and surfacing projects.
  • Transporting surfacing plant and equipment using a low loader in accordance with company procedures and road transport legislation.
  • Delivering diesel to site plant and equipment using an ADR‑compliant diesel bowser.
  • Supplying water to site operations using a water bowser to support dust suppression and operational requirements.
  • Carrying out daily vehicle and equipment inspections, reporting defects and ensuring all vehicles remain roadworthy and compliant.
  • Loading, securing and unloading plant and equipment safely, ensuring all loads are transported in line with legal requirements.
  • Completing all required transport documentation, vehicle checks and delivery records accurately.
  • Working closely with Supervisors and operational teams to support the planned works programme.
  • Following and promoting safe working practices in line with company policies and Health & Safety legislation.
  • Identifying and communicating any resource or logistical requirements to ensure efficient delivery of works.
What skills and experience do you need?

We are looking for an experienced Multi‑Skilled Driver with a strong background within the highways, surfacing or construction industry.

You will have:

  • A valid Class 1 and Class 2 UK driving licence.
  • A valid Driver CPC qualification.
  • A valid Digital Tachograph Card.
  • CSCS card
  • National Highways Passport Desirable
  • A current ADR Licence (minimum for the transport of diesel/fuel).
  • Previous experience operating a low loader and transporting plant and machinery.
  • Experience operating diesel and water bowsers within a highways or construction environment.
  • A good understanding of load security, transport legislation and vehicle compliance.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and safe systems of work.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work flexibly as part of a team.

The purpose of the role is to operate a forklift truck to transport items as instructed by the Packaging Supervisor.
